hello, i have been on the forum for awhile now and was told that it would be a good idea to post here rather than the intro pages.
so here i am.
i bought my cd 175 for 600$, it had newer exhaust and was in close to mint condition, seat had a little tare in it, and the frt
fender had a few dents, other than that it was in good condition. i have pics of it when i bought it but need to find them.
will post them when i do.
first thing i did was put a rear tire on it which is to big to use the rear fender, so i removed it, will be making half fender in its
place. the frt one was new with new tube.
drove it for 2 months stock like described. after that i started thinking about the cafe transformation. started with the seat, bought
some steel and fabed one up, cost about 20 bucks. then bought a sloper tank for 40 bucks, and took it down to metal and
smoothed out some dents, aswell i did the three stage cleaner for the inside of the tank. also cut down the rear signal lights
and bought new mufflers, and did new brakes all around, then mocked it up.
here is what it looked liked.
after i did this, i got every thing ready for paint, put on about 6-7 coats of black and took aprt the motor pannels and polished
them up.drilled holes in some pannels for a good look,
after that i decided to paint the pannels instead of polished look. decided on white, so i did 5-7 coats and 3-4 coats of primer.
and painted the motor black aswell. installed the pannels temp, and mocked up the rest.
also painted the shocks and head light pot.
thought i would do some thing to add some coolness to the frt so i did this
during all of this i was wondering what should i do for the rear lights, and was told that this 6v sys would support a 12v sys
so i tryed it and it worked fine, it would run a 24 led bulb light. so these are the lights i am going to use.
after this i painted the frame after masking every thing off. i was also deciding to or not to, to put on rear sets. was looking around
for a set and found aset from noel and decided to pick them up, ( thanks again ). i installed them as a mock up.
so after all of the muck ups and screwing around i was getting closer to my end product, i installed vynal on the tank and seat
then 1-2 coats of clear coats over them. and put the motor back together, and cleared it one more time.
at this point i mocked up the exhaust aswell.
will post the resent pics later.
