my hot rods....post yours!

audi R8? now THAT i want to see some pictures of.

i enjoy wrenching almost as much as i enjoy building. As far as building my own; i wouldnt build my own guns etc, simply because i do not have the means, and i do not take an interest in it. Would i maintain my own guns? yes.

Having a high class car such as an r8 would be GREAT... but id much rather ride around in something i restored myself. would i build a car from the frame up? probably not. But given the time and funds, id seriously consider trying.

Dont get me wrong, i have a great deal of respect for anyone that can purchase top dollar products; it simply isnt my cup of tea. My cousin has a great looking chopper that he spent 75,000 dollars on. Although i dislike choppers, it looks GREAT, no doubt, but when we talk about bikes it pains me when the amount of knowledge he has about his own back doesnt go much past "its loud, looks good, and goes fast in a straight line".

To each their own. I just like knowing that what i have is different from everyone elses.

I feel very much the same way. I'd probably take any thing and put my own twist on it, even as a kid. But I'll tell you one thing -- I couldn't and still can't do it all myself. I've needed help from others who are more gifted than me, and sometimes it does require spending some money. Not everyone has the ability, the gift, the means, the time, to get out there in the garage and make art. A lot of the fabrication I see from various members on here is truly art to me. Am I wrong for wanting to pay one of them to "make" me something unique? Sure, some day I may learn to do it myself. I'm always proud at what I'm able to accomplish. It's truly one of the greatest feelings, to know you fucking did it without help. But to spin the "you just shelled out the dough" line to kind of brush someone aside? I wouldn't apply that to everyone who purchases something, or pays to have a job done. There's always going to be someone out there who can do something that you can't. My drain gets plugged, I'll try to unclog it like a sum'bitch.. but if I can't, you better bet I'm making that phone call. ;)

first off kick ass rods, now that is out of the way, " I was a european car mechanic for most of my working life for the past five years I made a living as a welder Ive owned thirty some cars mostly 80s 90s beemers does it make kooler becouse I had to work on my cars all the time to keep them running fuck no it sucks I like pissing around with cars and old hondas but If I could of afforded a new, or profess built anything that would not of suck up all my off time I would do it in a second. I built my bike becouse the only cafe bike you can buy new is british... fuckn junk when you have to build stuff all day once in a while it is nice to buy some thing you do not have to mess with that is kool. built not bought I read that a few times on this site If you want the next time I sell a bike or car Ill post the adress and phone number of who ever buys it and you can belittle them and tell them how lame they are HOLLY SHIT"

Tact often comes after a few broken noses, but it will come. ::)

Mr.Bull...you have nice toys mate. I'd sweep your garage!
I just got to spend a long Saturday with a white R8. I did a little work on it and at this level, if you're tinkering with someone's thinly veiled Lamborghini there can be perks. What a monster.

My dad turned 70 in January and this is the roadster he's just finishing up. 324 olds, 4 strombergs, champion quick change, and lots of nice bits in the mill. Haven't worked on my studebaker pickup since Christmas, have to get the CB done for next year first
