Coast to Coast
Finally, able post some pictures.
i have posted pics that are resent, still have other ones on another camera that go through the build. Still happy to post.
i have built my own seat, and starting to put together the pads. also shorted the rear turn signals, they where further out.
i am using a 1971-72 sloper tank from another cd 175, did all thebody work etc. used the three stage tank cleaner/sealer.
also bought new exhuast with removable silencers, and have alittle up slope to them.i want to run them with out the silencers.
i am going to rejet the carb and install a k and n air filter. i have built a inner fender for under the seat. rewired the rear lights.
as for the tires the rear is to wide to use the fender, so i am making one out of fiber glass, even though i do'nt think i will use it.
front tire is ok, but would like to get a wider one for race use.
i am going to polish some prts on the motor and frame. oh ya forgot, if your wondering about the bars. yes i am putting on a set of
clubmans, would'nt ne a cafe racer with out them. asfor the rearsets a have gotten some excelant advice from you guys on the form,
which i will be using.
the bike will be painted flat black and crome. going to paint the hubs black aswell, and i think i might drill the hole in the hub for the brakes.
well i think thats pretty good for how, so i welcome any and all feed back on my project. aslo any help on eng set ups and light set ups, etc.
well thanks.

Awesome man, I thought with the riverrat tag someone in the family had to boat. I've boated since about '91. I live right in the middle of some world class whitewater. Anyhow, Did you post these pipes up in the for sale section? More people would see them there. By the way, what is that car in the photos with the pipes? Looks like a cool old ride.

Just found your stuff listed in the selling forum. Guess you are all over it. Good luck

Nice Bike man! I'm close to Ottawa too, Gatineau.

Do you mind sharing with me how you got the mufflers off of the downpipe? I thought they were welded on. Good job.

hay guys thanks for the repy's.
just started in on the paint. was going to go flat black, but i like the way it is turing out.
not totaly done but its coming along. need to do the rear shocks and frt forks aswell as the
head light pot. also polishing some of the eng prts. need to get my bars and jets.
also started my seat pads, turning out not to bad either. i think its going to look awsome, but
what do you guys think???????????????????
any help or ideas are welcome..
after all of this is done i need to install a rear brake light/license plate holder. new chain and gears aswell.
i've also cut down the frt signal light length same as the rears. want to keep the old lenses to keep it old
school but want either a smaller regular rear brake light or a led set up, not sure. whats your take????????
i am also thinking of painting the center hubs of the wheels same black, whats your take??????????????????
same with bars black or crome, i am leaning tawards the crome, what do you think???????????????????????
i what the bike to flow and look fast standing still, due to the fact that its not really that fast moving ( LOL ), it
as it sits will do 75-80 miles an hour with a good wind behind you, about 125-130 kms. hopfully after its done it will
go faster and stay at that speed...
i'll keep posting on any more up grades, etc.
later...

That's looking really good!

How does that exhaust sound? Is it quiet? Is the baffle removable?

Good job on the paint!

Are you keeping theses tires on? The front one almost looks like the original tire. It's hard to find 3.00-18 and 2.75-18 tire nowadays, but it's money well invested. I put cheapo bias-ply tires on my bike last year (probably running 25-30$ each) and they are much better than the 37 year old tires I had before. I wish I had just paid a bit of extra for decent radials. I think 90-90 fits fine in the front, and 100-80 would work well in the back.

Are you doing anything on the intake side as well?

whats up man.
thanks for the reply. as of now i havent fired it yet. but i do believe i am running it with the baffles out.
for the intake i am going to run new jets and an k/n filter. what do you think???????
the rear tire it 4.00 on a 17" rim. and its to big to run a fender, so i have to make a half fender out of fiber glass.
as for the frt tire it is normal size, but both are new with new tubes. rear tire is an bf goodrich, the frt is a duro.
frt came with the bike. the next one i will get a larger one. i would like to add new spokes, but cant find any!!!!!!
the rear only cost me 60$ pluss 10$ for the tube installed on rim. not to bad for a rear tire, better than 200-500$
for one. i think that my rear is 100/90. the largest that you could go with tubed tires, but can go wider with a no tubed
tire, you just have to install a differant tube. will cost more, mich tire i saw was 100$. better still but it is extrem, depending
on what your application is.
did the paint on sunday its the first coat, i am doing 7 all together. then clearing it. i am also pianting the eng black down the
center and polishing the side crank housing covers and other small parts. i beleive that it will look good. whats your take on
this part of my project????????
when i run the bike i'll let you know how it sounds, should sound awsome.
later..

hello.
well just up dating the post.
i've painted my frame and eng. had to drill out some bolts to remove the crank case covers.
preped all surfaces, and painted. i also have decided on rear lights. going to go with led, two on the
back of my seat. hooked up and tested they work fine. i'll be cutting the brake lever and reseting it
to where i can use it with the rear pegs. cheap way of doing it but will work for now.
i have some pics with eng covers on temp. i think that it looks awsome. i am glad that i decided to
do the white instead of the polished look every one has.
i am adding white vinal on the sides of the tank where the knee pads should be and the same on the
sides of the seat. i will be putting the checkared strip on frt fender, tank and seat down middle of
the bike. also cut out the spade in the fender, to add alittle some thing to the frt of the bike.
soon for the divets in tank at frt i am going to get some c&c cafe symbols made aswell.
should look great. well i'll leave it at that and will keep you all posted on the build.
thanks for looking.
later.

hope you guys like it so far and like to here what you think.

Think you have a great build going here. My only thought is that that white is kind of overpowering. Not sure what the rest of the color scheme is, but that white may take the attention away from everything else you have going on. Just my $.02.

thanks bigbsbusa.
i here what your saying.
it looks better in person, picture does'nt do it justice. they are'nt the best pics.
i still need to put the vinal on the tank and seat. aswell as the checker decals.
i think once these are on its going to flow pretty good.
but we will see, in my head it looks great, lets see if it turns out on the bike.
any way thanks for your input, and looking at my build.
keep you posted on how it turns out.
thanks.
later.
