and there are the bikes when i picked them up in order from front to back

1966 Yamaha YDS3 big bear scrambler
19XX Kawasaki 2 stroke dirt bike. its just sitting. i was toying with the idea of gutting it and using the frame tubing for bracing on the yamaha.
1973 Honda CB350twin the model with the front disk brake
1982 Honda CX500

total paid so far? $100 dollars down on the turbo bike @ the junk yard. still owe another 300.

i've probably got at least 1000-2000 to spend in parts alone coming up on these bikes depending on if i can find a fairing or not for the yamaha. its getting converted to a TD1 race bike. the CB and the CX will get cafe'd

Lookin good there mate, you don't see the turbo CX's getting around much at all. Any of those bikes, for that matter.

Hope it all goes well - boingk

well, the one thing i got going for me with all of the bikes is that I live in AZ. the Nonturbo CX is virtually rust free, same with the CB350 minus the seat pan, and i think the rust on that seat pan is from spending it's life outside and having the seat foam hold moisture to the pan. the Turbo CX has a lot of calcification and scale, and surface rust, but nothing detrimental to the operation i think. i'm hoping the internals aren't slapped. i'm going to keep the nonturbo motor just in case the turbo one is rocked. i know that one turns over and has decent compression. it just needs to be cleaned and the cooling system needs a mulligan.

expect to not see much activity on this page until at least x mas time. I've got several other things going right now, beyond motorcycles, plus work plus my newborn so time is just not on my side. soon as i get my SHO gone, get the F150 road worthy again, and get things settled and condensed together enough between my storage closet @ my apartment, my storage unit on the other side of town, my storage unit in MN, and the various things i have strewn about the valley at friends houses and condensed to one location i'll have everything i need to build/ride at least 8 motorcycles. i don't wanna become that guy we all hate that just buys stuff and stores it waiting for it to be worth more money, i'm done buying bikes for a while now, unless i run into a retardedly cheap Harley Night Train or similar Harley Cruiser, or another TL1000R. everything i got right now is everything i want once they're built, minus the imperial cruiser, and the liter bike. I've had both before but wouldn't mind having them part of the stable. i have my two stroke screamers (250 and 350 Yamaha and 2 Kawi 750 triples) my small displacement twin (Honda 350) my large displacement twin (1982 XS650 in MN) and my large displacement 4cyls (Kawasaki KZ750 back in MN, KZ900 here in AZ) and now with the CX500 the vertical twin shaft drive. i cant afford a guzzi just yet.

hopefully if things go smoothly i'll have from November to may to go through everything and at least organize and clean really well at a buddies house. besides the bikes i have to get all my tools back and organized, my tank on my welder filled back up, and the small endmill back in working order. and then probably pack it all tightly into a trailer in may to move again for the last time for a long time.

For sure that bike is cx500 turbo because if you look at the front forks, they are gold. the cx500 only came in gold. So were the rrims, and they look to be long gone along with the duel brakes up front. this bike also had the anti-dive front end. If you look at my post that is what the stock front end look like. Also, the valve covers have been taken off and replaced. The stock ones are different. were you able to find out if it still had the computer? its located right on the rear fender. I wish i could find me a complete cx500 turbo, and even better yet and cx650 turbo......in my dreams. Cant wait to see your build with this bike.

i haven't had a chance to go back down there, but i wish i wouldn't have been so hasty to put money down on the deal. guy told me it was a 650 turbo. i'm more interested in finding one of those and i bet if i spent enough time in that yard i'd probably find one. you can actually see the place on google earth and get a rough idea of the literally PILES of bikes he's got just sitting. racks and racks of wheels. i've gathered from what i've read online the 650 turbo is much more ideal to have than the 500. just more things got ironed out with the set up.

just google bobs cycle salvage phoenix az i think its 1200 block of E. Elwood rd Phoenix az. you can see the place is huge and has piles of bikes in various states of disrepair, running salvage title bikes, racks full of wheels, exhausts, tanks, fenders, frames, shocks, forks etc... and bikes EVERYWHERE. honda, kawasaki, yamaha, suzuki, a couple BSAs for sale out front, i dont remember seeing any harleys in there, but there were some BMWs i couldn't identify.

I've really been hesitating to start a build thread as i really am not in a position for at least 2-3 months to even start building.
