Name That Wire

1971 CB350. I can't figure out where this wire goes. Comes out of wiring harness near left side carb. Color is black and it ends in washer.

Do yourself a huge favor and remove those "pod" filters. You'll never get the bike tuned correctly. If you're not running the stock airbox, at least spend the cash for some proper filters. UNI or K&N are good.

Probably not a black wire. Might just be black sheathing over a green wire?

How thick is the wire?

I'm 99% sure that's a ground wire for maybe the stock airbox or something (looks green + eye connector). Take your multimeter to it. If there's no resistance between the frame and the wire then you're 100% sure it's just a ground wire...

VonYinzer: new Mikunis and filters already on order.

Sonrier and jungalist: I will check. I believe it may be black sheathing over a green wire.

Thanks

Ground wire for the harness, there should be one right around that that area somewhere. Might be the one that should be attached to the battery as shown in this diagram. Several honda models had them.

Hmm, I'll see if the will reach battery negative terminal. I don't believe it will. Probably will just have to ground to frame somewhere.

Check continuity between the wire and the frame or negative battery terminal.

If you have continuity there, then assuming all else is right with the world, it's a ground wire and should be on the battery terminal or bolted to the frame.

Or not. Some setups require a separate ground wire to connect the components that are mounted on the bars to the rest of the bike.

like the stock airbox, which it's probably from... because some bikes have their condensator mounted on it which requires a ground. i feel so clever at the moment, probably because i'm studying for my exams.
