Need a good helmet shop in Minneapolis

Going to the twin cities in a couple of weeks and thought I would look for a new lid as the Schubert went for a slide across the pavement last fall...

So anyone have any suggestions for the best selection of full face lids in Minneapolis/St Paul?

For that matter I'll be passing through Grand Forks, Fargo etc on the way down the I29 and I94... anything along the way would do too...
 
You could give them a try I hear tale from friends bob is a good guy to deal with I don't know about helmets but a buddy bought a bike there.

On I-35 near Rush City (north of Mpls) Dennis Kirk has an outlet store with scratch and dent, blems, discontinued items etc that are much less than retail.

FANTASTIC selection & prices!

Picked up a Shoei Multitec in Matte Black for $409... which is just a hair more than the est deal on eBay... but of course I got to try it on and THAT is priceless.

Great service... can't say a bad thing about the staff...especially Curly... great guy.

And a HUGE thank you to my lady Tracey... she bought the helmet for me as a birthday present... after I wrecked my last one when I crashed HER bike! Love you Beauty!

I was going to suggest Midwest Cycle Supply on Nicollet Avenue, but it looks like you're covered. I bought a helmet there last week- Shoei tz-r. Good prices, knowledgeable staff if you need another helmet in the future.
 
I tried Midwest but they were closed (Tuesday 1pm). I checked with the shop next door but she hadn't seen them around... seasonal shop... but like I said... Bobs was great.

I'll say one thing... Midwest is in one funky area! Haven't seen that many sex shops, strip joints, video parlours etc since I stayed at a hotel west of Broadway in Manhatan!
 
Shit - I think I'd rather take my chances with concrete than having shards of plastic drivin into my skull when I go chin first into the road.
 
Haha, Yeah maybe. I said the exact same thing when I was out looking at modular / flip up helmets. I'll always wear a solid full faced helmet.

I just think it looks cool.
 
Don't get me wrong - I wear a modular Nolan N100. Love it. I wear glasses, and hate cramming them into my helmet after I put it on so I went with a flip.

I'm kind of looking at new helmets, but my good old Nolan is still plenty comfy and only a few years old.
 
Luckily I am without glasses, hah. so no problem here. Unless i need shades. 8)

I'd love to blow big bucks on a lid with built in flip down sun visor if anything else. Nighttime riding is scary with my tinted visor. But the clear one is a hassle to carry around all the time... I would say all of those are wicked expensive, though.

On another note, it looks like the chin cover on the helmet I posted is held on by plastic screws / snaps... so I'd say it would snap off in an acident (and hit you in the neck... LOL).
 
Bob's had a $300 modular (HJC I think) with a sliding sun visor... wasn't that great. I had one in my Schubert as well and rarely used it. The optics in the slide are no where as nice as the main visor. All the ones I have tried left the view a bit muddy. I have transition glasses (get dark in sunlight) so it's not big deal for me.... but even without them I wouldn't let the second visor influence my decision. I also had the Schubert fail a couple of times and the damn thing slid halfway down on it's own... surprises inside you helmet you do not need ;D
