Need a tip - electrix dissassembly

Need good idea how to label electrix as I dissassemble the connections. Particularly the connections under the tank running forward . Its not so easy doing a diagram of this stuff at this point and I can not read a schematic too easily.

The rear and central electrix - no problem.

Thoughts of Electrix reassembly in a few weeks is freaking me out a bit.

All the connections are color coded - the wiring diagrams are pretty straight forward.

Other than that, you could use a label maker and start with '001' and put matching labels on each of the male/female connections.

But the connections under the tank (in that little black box) are essentially all the handlebar controls, and like I say, everything is colored. Black goes to black, yellow w/red stripe goes to yellow w/red etc.

I took a LOT of close-up pics of the electrical connetions when I did the frame off last year. They continue to help to this day.

All the pics are in one folder on my laptop... I just take it out to the garage and use it as a reference when I need to.

yeah.. dont sweat it.. the worst that can happen is that you rewire something wrong, bike catches fire, the garage burns down....
;D

Kidding... as Tim said, all the wires are colour coded and can only go in one way...

Well ...Electrix done.

I photo'd everything...took notes, labelled a few connections/connectors and prayed a bit.

Most wires are color coded to color coded but there were a few exceptions (eg marked with rings on cable) and some connectors had loops and double connections. SOme wires were kind of faded or dusty and differentiating was a bit trick.

Anyway ...job done now and I figure if I screw up...someone else can re wire it. ;D

Yep - I forgot about what I seem to recall is a black wire with a yellow ring on it that plugs into yellow. It should work no problem.

Little Tip for anyone else doing this.

As I fllowed the loom from rear to front, I found that once I got to the headlight. ...I could extract most of the circuits without disconnecting much at all. (It would be a nightmare disconnecting/reconnecting all the connections in the headlight)

That means I have the speedo and tacho attached to the end of the entire wiring but no problems there and I can still work on them anyway.

The headlight looks worse than it is. When I was troubleshooting a connection in my bike, I yanked every connection apart in the bucket just to make sure it was put together properly and to clean the connections.

You'll find in some of those multi-connection female fittings that aren't completely utilized that small insects like to make nests.
