Here is the sewer pipe seat pan. I had to sand it down to take off foam I put on earlier that i scraped, so it's not as smooth as it was.
Here a photo of the bottom of the seat pan, so that you can see it was much smoother.

I love that tank too, and don't want to repaint it! If I have to paint it, I want to keep that sun faded, retro look.

All you would need to do is clean that tank up really well, and have a flat or low-gloss (20% maybe) laid down. Would look old and worn, but be protected.
