Hi everybody,
My name is Jenni and I've been lurking around these parts for awhile checking out builds and such. I like tinkering with motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, etc etc. I grew up on the farm watching and helping my dad work on stuff, and I like to do the same but always have lots to learn.
Anyway, I've been looking for an old CB on and off for the past several months, and finally came across a good deal - a guy wanted a lil 50 pitbike, and had a 71 CB175 he wanted to trade, clean title. I happen to have a lil honda xr50, so we straight up traded. Worked for me! He said it didn't idle very well, but I figured all it needed was a good carb cleaning. It was pretty nasty, didn't get any pics if it tho. I did that, replaced the battery, and it fired right up! Sweet. Still have a ton of work to do, but at least it runs and cruises around nicely!
The guy i got it from started to work on it.. he ground off a bunch of tabs and stuff, flipped the bars, but that's about it. frame has a good amount of rust on it, i'm going to get that blasted off and see what I have to work with.
Here are a few pics.
the day i picked it up
cleaned the carbs, so pretty now!
got it running decently, time to strip it down to get this frame painted!
the rust on the frame under the seat...
I need to replace pretty much all of the cables, the grips are shot, and i want to get some other bars, maybe clip ons. Brakes are good and shocks are ok, forks are a bit soft though. Probably gonna rewire a bunch too, the PO's battery leaked all over the wires and it's just a matter of time til they are toasted!
I'll be bugging you guys for lots of help i'm sure!
