Thought I would send in some pics of my newest project. '83 XS 650 Special morphing into a mild cafe. my fab skills are limited so I'm trying to keep it simple for this one, i.e. seat, exhaust, bars, looking for an XS850 tank and some rear sets. I'm trying to keep it on the road this season,so the strip down will happen this winter ( keeping my fingers crossed ) This board is a wealth of info and am learning alot. I will keep up the post when I make some more mods. Any input is welcome.
Thx, Jeff

Welcome to DTT Jeff. I hope your goin to wrap those pipes or build some heat guards... Thats gonna hurt man. Looks great though!

Just picked upome wrap for them, they should work alot better with rearsets, they are next on the list with an XS850 tank and maybe a bikini ferring I think that should be it,but one is never sure.

Those are some sexy pipes. You got a pipe bender at home or is there a shop in town that does them.

Absolutely beautiful work. Too bad though, I was hoping to find somebody local that would let me play with his pipe bender for a case of beer.

wow.. nice...
Is that an original Giuliari seat?...
Ive never seen one for a yamaha before!!..

Believe it or not it's a replica from Mikesxs. I couldn't believe it either. Seat pan snaps right in no mods nescessary, pretty comfortable as well. No long hauls yet but toolin around town it's good. I need to get a set of rear sets I think that would make a little more rideable, just waiting on one of the DTT guys ( Durgam_k )to finish a set. He fabed a set for his Suzuki and they look really sweet. ;D

Hey Jeff, welcome to the Ton.
Nice start on the XS.
Love the pipes and seat.
Hope to see it in person soon.
Rob

Well finally got the pipes wrapped and took her out for a spin tonight, got about 40km in she's running really well, gets a bit warm on the rearend but not unbarable. I love the way she sounds, got a nice growl. Next is and oil change and lube, she was squeeking a little. I didn't realize how much
I missed riding until tonight. This is my first summer in about 20 years and lovin it.
