Been lurking around the forums for a bit. Finally got my first motorcycle (project) this afternoon. It's a '72 CB750:
Big ordeal in getting the bike. Owner wanted $700 for it. I told him I had to arrange transport and would call him back in 15 minutes. By the time I got someone who could move the bike for me (Tony) the owner was now asking $900 as he was getting offers of $1000 for the bike. Those of you with more experience in buying motorcycles would've probably passed at this point but I decided it was worth it so I went ahead with the deal. Went to the bank machine and was surprised to find out I could only withdraw $500. Which kinda pissed me off, but then I figured I could buy a can of soup at the Metro and get cash back. Went to the grocer and when I opened my wallet my card was gone! I left it at the bloody bank machine! So I went home and scrapped every last penny I had together and managed to have just enough for bike and transport.
Bike doesn't run, is missing front tire and seat, exhaust header is rusted out, no rust anywhere else. No key for the ignition either so I guess I'll have to replace that whole system. I'm taking a homestudy motorcycle repair course over the winter and I'm gonna make this bike my 1st project and something to learn on as I build up.
Big thanks to locO leoN and Tony for all their help.
P.S. Damn this bike is heavy, word to the wise pushing a CB750 around with no front tire on grass is a pain in the arse.
