Hey guys, new guy here. I've always been interested in building a Cafe Racer, so when a friend of mine (CThor on the forum here actually) told me he had a bike for sale, I decided to take the plunge. So now I have a '72 CL350 to build a racer, and no experience. Hopefully it'll go smoother than I'm thinking it will. I've started taking the bike apart down to the frame, which I plan on painting a Navy Blue; here's some pictures of the bike in the garage right after I unloaded it.

I've also got a couple frames with motors I plan on doing something with as well. I think I'm gonna build a street tracker/bobber similar to this with one of them:

The other, my roommate wants me to build him something with. We'll see what happens with that in the future, after I finish my toys. ;D

BTW, I have a few sets of CL pipes laying around if you need an exhaust. Just let me know, and we'll work out the details.

I have the pipes that came with it, but I think I may go for something a bit custom. We'll see. Haven't really decided that far ahead yet.

Any advice from anyone as far as: Should I get the frame powdercoated, or should I just paint it? What preparation will I need to do for either?

That's a pretty big question. Powdercoat will last a LONG time, but is expensive and you can't "touch it up" like paint. Paint can last a long time if done properly and requires almost the same prep. It's kind of a personal preference
