Hi there, I recently bought a 1978 cb550k and I plan on making it a " mid cafe" I dont want to alter the frame or destroy original parts. the bike is in greak mechanical shape except for the exhaust which is rusted out. I work in sales at a honda delaership, and have a tech here that is helping me with the engine work. He also owns a CB500 and a CB750.

I ordered parts and they are all here. Phase 1 will be new exhaust, jets, and clubman bars.

The 4in4's are awesome, bet you could still sell them even if they're rusted.. Lucky you on the dealership!
Not really a fan of clubmans myself, but if you'ld like to keep the ears intact there's not really another option for cafe-bars..

Good luck!

That bike's in great shape! A lot of those stock parts will fetch big money on ebay.

Welcome aboard!

Ringo love the bike, I think i had an Aurora AFX car when i was a kid with the same paint scheme.

I want to sell the seat to fund some of my parts, I know its worth more if i keep all the stock parts, but if i sell the seat i could fund engine upgrages. I was on sohc forums and got yelled at for the suggestion, but for me to keep a box of parts in the attic seems foolish. I have a box somewhere at my parents house with my original Kuahara BMX parts.

I am looking for a nice bolt on seat, any ideas besides Benji, Dime city or Carpy

Yeah those sohc4 guys can be a little high and mighty, especially if you suggest chopping up a nice condition CB. There's definitely a couple folks on there that I just plain ignore.

Hey cb550inct,
Glad to see you made it over here. I think most guys on SOHC4 are good dudes but definitely some that need to get a grip. All the parts I've removed I've sold to someone else who's restoring another CB750F so it keeps the balance. You've got the "in" having the Pro's right their. Good luck with the mods.

Welcome!

Other places for a seat (google em for the actual site): RocCityCafe, Airtech fiberglass, and Glass from the Past. I'm sure there's more.
