New Member from San Jose, CA - '71 CB 350 Build (some pics)

Hi All
New member and new rider here! As I type this, I have yet to ever ride a motorcycle. At age 38, I figured now is the time! I picked a Honda CB350 due to its availability of parts here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and my short stature (5'6").

I'm currently building my bike piece by piece. Pick up a rolling chassis on Craigslist...then a motor shortly after. Now 2 months into my build I've picked up another CB (1971) 350 to cannibalize and if all goes well, then build that up too!

Here's my bike so far...

It still lacks quite a bit of parts, electrical, etc. But the vision is already taking shape!

A proper CB350 Cafe Racer as your first bike at 38, really cool!! Enjoy, you'll love it!

Thanks! I got the tail piece from a local fabricator in San Louis Obispo, CA. He sells them on eBay under the username: twinlinemoto

Thanks Bas! I purchased some shorty mufflers from DCC last week and I should have it running by end of this week. Can't wait to hear it start up!!!

Haven't really taken any major steps as of recently, however yesterday I started to put my thoughts together on my chalkboard wall in my garage. I took a pic of the wall and was immediately impressed with the outcome, so I decided to share it here with you. Pretty cool looking, huh?

I had the chalkboard panels from when I designed a Save-The-Date for our wedding last year...

After that I put them up in the garage and they are awesome to have! They are just press-board panels with chalkboard paint on them. You can get the paint at any lowes or hd

The chalkboard wall is genius! I had so many oily notes and pages laying around when I did my build. This would have been perfect. We have a chalkboard door in our guest bed room but we just use it to write dirty notes on.

Man I love the blackboard, so useful! Permission to steal the idea? I end up doodling all day and making list after lists of things to do and buy. Be cool to keep the battle plans set up in the garage.

And I was the same situation when I got my bike earlier this year. No license, no experience, and no tools... and its been a blast!

Kudos on the all black engine and the slick seat. I think that's the same seat pan that chewy (another dtt member) had on when I met with him. He also got it from someone up in nor cal.

Permission granted! Haha, thanks...and I just got in new cables and a whole new control switch console yesterday so I plan to have a buddy stop by on Saturday to help me get it all put on...along with the rest of the electrical. May even have it fired up for the first time this weekend too! Can't wait!!! Still need to get my cafe seat upholstered so might have to throw the old seat pan back on in the meantime!
