New member from Wisconsin

New plate I made up to cover the riser holes and hold the instruments... I think I'm gonna paint the letters, then polish the hell outta the face and clearcoat it..

Man, I didn't realize how close the riding season is... Crap! I gotta get my ass moving!!
As long as I've got her ready by race weekend, I'll be happy... So that gives me a couple months yet to iron out all the bugs... I should look pretty sweet running around at the vintage races on my cafe!

Anybody in the wisconsin area that's interested...
June 12th-14th in Elkhart lake Vintage Motorcycle racing.
I usually go the the superbike races the weekend before, but we decided to change it up a bit this year...
Beer, Booze, Bikes, and Babes... What more can you ask for?? :P

I'm from wayyyy up north in WI (Superior) im in the 400 club also. the season is getting pretty close. I had the bike out one day a week or so ago and ran it around the block a few times one day when it was 50 degrees out. I discovered my carbs needed some more love than I thought. Bike looks nice. Keep up the good work....

thanks..
Yeah, I kow Superior quite well.. I used to party up there when I was younger... There was a place called Grandma's sports bar or something along that lines, tho i think it may have been just over the bridge in Duluth now that I think about it... I dunno, it's all pretty fuzzy from back then... ;)
Originally I'm from Eau Claire, so it wasn't much of a drive for me to go hang with my buddy that lived up there..

thats awesome!... hell i like the brake lever as well! I think i may use the EDM machine to make a plate as well... i am liking that!

Yeah, that would look pretty damn slick EDM'ing it... Unfortunately we dont have one here, I just milled it out with a .125 dia endmill

Yeah...grandma's is in Duluth. I know that area quite well. LOL. The north shore of Superior is some of the best riding in the STATE!
My wife and I spent a long weekend clocking almost 1000 miles up there last year for our anniversary. Ate at Grandma's saloon in Canal Park and Betty's Pies near Two Harbors. Good stuff maynard!

This was worth the ride...Just off of Hwy 1, all you could hear was the bubbling of the rapids.

Looks great - not to nitpick, but it looks like the shifter linkage rod could be a spec longer - the shifter and the arm of the footpeg should ideally be parallel to each other, and it looks like you're close to maxing out the threaded adjustable area on the rod.

It also looks like you could use rod-ends instead of the clevis ends you have. Looks like there's enough clearance that you could mount the rod-ends on the inside of the footpeg and shifter mounts, taking them inboard away from pants etc. and just an overal cleaner look.

tHERE'S ACTUALLY QUITE A BIT OF THREAD LEFT INSIDE THE CLEVIS'.... lOTS OF ROOM FOR ADJUSTMENT. i'M PLANNING ON SWITHING TO THE BALL STYLE ROD ENDS AT SOME POINT. THE ONLY REASON i'M USING THE CLEVIS IS JUST THE SIMPLE FACT THAT i WAS ABLE TO MACHINE THEM FROM SCRAP STOCK AT WORK... tHE ONLYT HING i'VE ACTUALLY PAID FOR ON THESE SO FAR IS THE BEARINGS i PUT IN THEM... jUST BEEN KEEPING MY EYE OUT AT WORK FOR SCRAPS THAT i CAN USE... ;)

Bikes looking good. I have to put some update pics of mine up today also. I need to slap some different handlebars on my ride. I have a question for you. On your side covers what is on the frame to mount the sidecover to the frame? All I have is a metal tab and am wondering if there is some kind of rubber grommet that is missing? Can you post a pic? Much appreciated.

I'll check it out and post some pics for you... If i remember right, there are rubber grommets in there... Should be 3 connections points... Looking at the side cover itself, there is a hole at the top for a tab to bo in, then 2 tabs on the bottom that go into holes in the frame... I know the holes in the frame had grommets, i'll check the other one for you and post some pics tomorrow...

Shit... sorry it's been so long guys... With the lay off and relocating and what not the project kinda got put off a bit... Moving into a permanent place next week, and hopefully I'll be able to give some updates shortly.... Tho I'll probably move my thread to the big ass projects section, since I'm not exactly a new member anymore....... ;)
I don't suppose there's anybody on here from the Eau Claire, Wi area?

i ride out that way every now and then bud! used to snowmobile out there all the time... now the snow does not fall deep enough or stay long enough so we had further north!
