Just giving out a hello. Been looking over the site for the last week or so and am truely amazed with some of the stuff I've seen and what so many have done with little investment (keep up the good work guys).
Site recommended by another member after getting into a discussion about Cafe bike sites I should look at.
I'm in the process of cafeing a 76' CB3360, what else. One of those things were I've always wanted to do a cafe but just never seemed to have the time or thought I had the ability. Well, with the kids now nearly out of the house, I thought what the hell. For a $300 investment, some scrounging around for parts, and time, how bad could I bungle this. Have most of it set up with just a few uncertain items left to sort out. It's the wiring harness that I dread. I know the front of the harness and the back of the harness, it's all that stuff in between and trying to remember how it was mounted over the frame. Also going to have to extend some of the wiring as I have relocated a few items. Had to change out the fork bridge and used one from a CB400 which changed the lighting mount and the instrument mounting, still looking for a suitable light and would like a smaller unit then the 7" (suggestions are welcomed, just haven't seen anything on line that I want. Saw a small twin set that I liked, but the price tag was just out there for what I wanted to spend). Changed over the front disc to shoes to give it aliitle more of the retro look. Moving the battery to up underneath the seat cowl. Once I've got some decent pic's I'll post. Thanks again guys for a great site, I look forward to using it :)
 
Hey Welcome to the site! I can't wait to see how your CB360 comes out. I struggle with the electrical stuff too. I might have a CB160 wire harness if you need one, I don't think they are that much different. Check the manual section of the site too for a schematic. Give me a buzz if you ever need a hand. -MBS

Where in Manchester are you? I live in Cromwell but grew up in glastonbury.. Lots of good roads heading out 384 - 44....

South side of 384, down near the country club.
The ususal ride is a 90 FJ1200.
Ride the east side of the river mostly, devils hop yard, the castle, Hebron, Colchester, Lyme, North Lyme, Salem.
Thanks for the offer, I've also got MBS offering help if needed (my wife's niece husband, is that right?)
Right at the moment I'm working through as much of it myself as I can.
It's the 1st, won't be perfect but it's been fun thus far (best part is the SO thinks I'm nuts)
 
I hear that.. I love riding the East side of the river around East haddem and Goodspead up 151 to rt 6 or 66 then hebron glastonbury or rt 94 or rt 83.

Hey the bike is coming along nice, did you clean up the original wheels or replace them? The rims look really nice. Any progress on the engine? I am going to be mildly caffinating my 79 CM400 over the winter for next season - should be challenging. Right now I am clearing out my inventory of parts on ebay, if there is anything you need let me know and its yours if I have it, family discount. - MBS

Made a run up to Coopers in Franklin, NH (vintage salvage yard) this morning and found a 5-1/2" all metal headlight assembly (original 7") that I'm going to use, just need to get a set of fork brackets unless you've got some that will fit. Found a trailer tail light that I'm using, going to mount it underneath the rear frame rail. Got the front fender and the seat painted and acouple coats of clear, still need to do some more clear.

Let me know what you've got in the pile of parts.

Ran the FJ up to NH and got in about 370 miles. Perfect day.

Tomorrow is Crusin'n on Main in Manchester, going to run the 912 up.

I think I have a set that I used on a 5.5" head light. I'm not exactly sure of the current condition so I will have to dig them out tomorrow for you and snap some pics. I am pretty sure they are chrome. Worse comes to worse you can paint them the same color as the fender and tank, that might look good. Or you could paint them black with some appliance epoxy spray paint for a powder coated look. I'll try to get the pics to you asap. What color(s) did you go with?? MBS

Appreciate your looking in the pile for me.
Decided on "Claret Wine" (dark maroon).
Got the front fender buffed out this morning. It's amazing what you can do with a rattle can of paint, some wet sandpaper, clear coat, rubbing compound and wax and all through Home Depot.

Ok now you have to put up more pics....
looking for the headlight brackets right now.
 
Yup, sent the brackets last week - went out friday UPS. I like the way its looking! Is there enough clearance with the tire for the tail light? What did you mount it with?
 
Made a bracket and attached to underside of rear rail pan. Light up snug to the rail. Plenty of room!
Got the wiring harness back on, now it's a matter of figuring how much to shorten the bar controls.
Have to get to work on the engine, don't anticipate much!
 
Well looks like your moving right along on that pretty fast. Are you planning to put the plate above the light on the flat of the bump stop? Keep those pics coming!!
 
Well I would suggest registering it as a classic and getting the nice black and white plate. Figuring out where to put the license plate and illuminating it with out taking away from the clean look of your bike is the hardest part, but the classic plate helps. I used a set of these to fasten and illuminate my plate - worked well and looked nice too. They sold new on ebay, worth the money. -MBS
