Hey Fellow Cafe fans.
Just found this forum but I wish I would have a long time back - looks like a huge pool of communal smarts and innovation when it comes to DIY custom work.
I've got a few early Kawasaki H1 500's in various states of being built. Tops on the list is the '71 H1A I've owned since 1979. Bought as a basket case for $50. I put it together, rode it for a few years, with various minor mods along the way, always leaning toward the cafe racer styling. I lugged it around with me in pieces for years while other bikes came and went. Ended up in my basement workshop when I got married, had kids, blah blah blah. Twenty five or so years later I stumbled upon the Kawasaki Triples Worldwide forum (http://www.kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/phpBB2/index.php?sid=c83c01e5713807fa35d04a3ceea66265) and my interest was re-kindled in my old two stroke.
I've slowly been working at building the cafe racer that I had finished in my head many years ago. I've been at it for the last couple of winters and it's finally getting close. Hope to be rolling it out next spring...
My first thread is gonna be one on the solo seat fab that I did last winter. Like I said at the top, I wish I would have found this site before I started - just browsing a few of the cafe seat ideas on here would have helped a lot. I spent a LOT of hours to finally produce what I wanted and it's still not quite finished. Still got some trimming to do, final foam +/- cover, etc. But I'll post the whole story where it belongs ...
Cheers All,
Neil
