Howdy!

Located in Central Texas, two wheels is my passion. Cycling and motorcycles, from Groms to Harleys to Adventure Bikes and Superbikes.

I have a modern 2017 GSX-R600 that is track day only, a runabout '77 BMW R100RS (I'll spend some time and love on it one of these cold(er) months, and my latest purchase - and the reason I'm here - a '72 Honda CB175 that I want to make into a GP200+ AHRMA Racer.

I'm after any and all help with the CB175. I need an engine builder, best advice on forks (VTR250?), and chassis advice (where/should I enforce it).

Cheers guys!

Welcome! Good chance you'll find somebody here who can answer questions. There are some weekend racers on here w/ lots of knowledge and there are a few airhead riders as well.

What are your thoughts on the engine? the cost could vary wildly depending on what you want done. Ported and gas flowed, oversize valves, spring kit, camshaft, DYNA ignition, CB200 oil pump, new inlet manifolds, big bore kit to get it closer to the class limit, big carbs and so on.

Our pair are based on the sloper platform, but they are basically the same. Sloper frames weigh less than uprights. Forks? VTR250 are a good place to start. We use stock CB160/175/200 forks which are adequate and they come with the bike, so the cost is low. Damping is almost non existent though. CB160 front drum is OK, CB77 is bigger and better. CB92 magnesium brake is nice but probably cracked by now, if you could find one.
