Been Around the Block
I got started with bikes at 13. My dad got me a Jincheng Cheetah 50. Chinese crap typically, but this particular bike was an exact copy of the older Honda 50. Jincheng actually bought the patents. I still have this one. At 15 I got a 1982 KZ550LTD. This is where I got my first restoration experience. We didn't do anything too crazy. Made a seat, exhaust, did some paint work. At 19 I got a job at Mountain Motorsports in Conyers, GA. Had a few newer bikes through the years: SV650, WR250X, 79 XS750 (junk), and most recently an 06 Speed Triple. I sold the trip and got antsy for a bike. I found a 1975 GL1000 for $500. I bought it and here I am. Progress I've made so far: dropped front and rear fender, flipped the bars, dropped display, dropped turn signals, put new tires on, dropped exhaust and put some chrome tips on the headers. I bought a sand blaster last night and tore the whole front end down. Blasted the triple trees, shocks, exhaust, radiator fins, rotors, rear sets. Tonight I'm going to tear down the brake systems and sand blast the calipers. Plans : wrap exhaust, make fiberglass seat pan, clip ons, paint. Debating dropping the motor or not. I don't want too much down time. I need to ride.

Hmm, what's a sandblaster cost?
Maybe I should get one too, I'm always having to remove crap from parts :)

Tractor Supply $99 for the box and blaster. Sand was $25. I got the Garnet sand. Works good. It's not the best quality box, but it definately works.
