newbie cb350 clubman/throttle assembly replacement

let me start off by saying i am completely new to motorcycles almost all together, and have little mechanical prowess.

so, that being said, this evening i attempted to replace my stock '73 cb350 bars with some clubmans. my problem occurred when trying to separate the two parts of the throttle assembly. the screws had clearly not been touched in years, and i was having no luck unscrewing them and ended up stripping the heads completely. i eventually was able to just cut the screws in half and get the throttle assembly apart. i think as opposed to drilling out the screw at this point, i would like to buy a new throttle assembly. does anyone have any recommendations? i only ever use the kick-start, so i would not the push-button starter, and would like the whole thing to look as clean as possible. i am most likely going to get new grips and levers as well, so any suggestions are welcome.

also, i looked at the 'how-to' of putting on clubmans in the forum and the part where you have to disconnect all the wiring from behind the headlight looks a little daunting to me. any advice on how to keep track of everything? if i end up getting a new throttle assembly, should i just keep everything intact behind the headlight and just disconnect the wiring at the assembly because it will have to be done anyway?

thanks in advance!

Thed wirings not too bad. Just lable each wire at the connection. Get some masking tape and put a little piece on each end before you diconnect them and mark them both the same. 99% of all of the wires are color matched anyhow. Make sure you have a manual (and wiring diagram) as well. As far as the throttle, the problem is finding one that has all the other switches, but not the starter button. You can look for an early SL175 housing. Anything without a factory elec. starter. The wiring colors may not match up though, so having a 350 diagram, and a little trial and error is the way to go.

Ya, but those arent throttles. And theyll be a little more difficult to install as the wiring colors wont match. Still a pretty easy job, itll just take a little longer.

is this not basically the same thing as the ebay link you posted? i think maybe i was unclear in the original post, but i think it is just the right hand control switch, with the H/L switch, the starter and the kill switch that needs replacing, because that is what i had to cut through. the throttle itself, as far as i know, is fine. the shitty thing is that my bike is not at hand, it is at the other end of the city in a garage.

The EBay link I posted is for an SL175 throttle assembly. Its basically the SAME as your 350 one, but has no starter button or wiring for one. The ones you posted from DCC are left side housings. You need a throttle.

That should work for you. Wiring up a kill switch should be part of your plan though. Could even get a little bar mounted one.
