Newbie from Germany

Hi all.

I'm the new dude from Germany.

I grew up in Lahr, Germany among the Canadian soldiers that were posted over here at the time (hence my English; ey trey not to ssound like a Jerman).

But who cares for the guy, here's my bike: 1972 CB450K5 - CAFE RACER!

Basically illegal to German road registration standards but I am working on it, hopefully she'll be on the road next week.

Any questions/comments/remarks? - drop a line!

Oh, by the way: disregard the link on the pics. The address belongs to the company that sold me the bike, I haven't found the time to shoot some better pictures, yet. I'll keep you updated...

Very nice. The bike looks clean. What is the third gauge on the handlebars?

What part of Germany are you from. A few years ago I visited Munich and Allgau. It was very beautiful.

nice meeting you! I am located just on the other side of Strasbourg, France in the very South-Western part of the country - basically 4 hours West of Munich and the Allgau.

Hey, your last name doesen't sound Spanish, either, you know...do you have relatives in Germany?

The thrid gauge is - probably as a reminiscence to the Brits - an amp meter. It was already on the bike and I kinda like the layout of the three gauges.

I picked up the bike last winter, it was too good a price to let it go by (I usually ride old Brits; currently a homebuilt Triumph bobber-kinda-deal). It turned out later that the engine was overhauled about fifteen years ago and only ran for some 400 miles - the damn' thing is not even BROKEN IN!

I might change a few more odds and ends (perhaps remove the side covers, stuff like that) but it does look pretty clean like it is, indeed. The only thing I will definitely change/remove is the really ugly tail light (god, that really sucks...) and the indicators. It is pretty hard to get away with alternations in genreal over here as we have to go get our vehicles technically inspected every two years by the federal bean counters. But, as I mentioned before, I am working on it.

So much for now, time to hit my workshop for some cleaning up (jess, ey am e Jerman after oll!).

Yes, I probably do have some relatives there, although I don't know them. I think the original spelling of my name was Schliessmann. (The Key Master!)

Ha, the amp meter may actually come in handy. The charging system on these bikes barely does the job. It would be nice to keep an eye on the battery.

Very nice bike man, my english is not at the top, i'm from Belgium (i'm a french speaking man).
No problem here about language, just you, your bike and a good spirit are important on "Do the Ton".

Hey brew, thanks a lot for the hint - I really wondered what the hell was wrong; I 've been getting these terrible backakes you know...Shit, this is how I got the baby. They turned the damn things up for transportation. In fact I havn't ridden a yard on the bucket. It'll be interesting I bet.

Seven54, you almost had it: sehr gut, with an "h" between the "e" and the "r".

well i would think your wrists would hurt more than your back really, seeing the way your palms met the grips. shes a nice scoot you picked up! cant wait to see what else will happen to her :)
