Hello. My names Jamie, I own a small metal fab shop in northern utah specializing in Jeeps and offroad equip. but I recently bought a 75 CL360 for a little barhopper project for myself. It sat outside behind a building for 15-20 years. I've had it almost 2 weeks now and since i bought it I have gotten it cleaned up and running, cut it up redone the back half so its kinda drop seat-ish built a new seat pan and extended and braced the swing arm 6". I've also made a set of handle bars for it. new battery box and much more. Now that its all back together it won't charge so thats where I'm at with it now. heres some pics.

Well as soon as I can figure out the not charging situation. Probably just swap out the tank for an early honda dream, hodaka or triumph. can't decide yet. then throw some knobbys on it and ride it. Any idea why this thing won't charge? I'm not getting ANY voltage out of the stator when its running.. I unhooked a ton of what i though were useless wires from the headlight mess ie turnsignals and what not, I read that one of the stator wires takes power off the Headlight switch so hopefully that doesn't send power down to the stator and i carelessly disconnected it...

You probobly just need a new stator. Old Hondas, and especially the 360 have sub-par charging systems. Have you gone through the rest of the system?

I've been fighting this charging system for the last couple days and gotten nowhere. i went through a fault finder diagnostic from electro-something and its basically telling me i need to go through all the wiring. because i have NO voltage at all coming out of the stator. pulled it out every thing looks fine wasn't grounding out anywhere. checked the continuity and was reading between .9 and 1.3 ohms between all 3 so thats good. So I cleaned it and scuffed up the contacts and put it back together and still nothing. but while i was testing continuity and voltage between various wires i found that the yellow wire (headlight switched??) to the recifier has continuity with ground. So I'm thinking next step is to go through all the wiring and try and find the short??? Or gut all the old wiring and start fresh?

Rewire... If you get rid of a lot of the "unneeded" stuff like turn signals, and elec start, you can rewire that whole bike in an afternoon. Trust me, its simple. Theres a few simplified diagrams floating around here.
