so I've acquired a damaged '06 CBR1000 front wheel that I have some interesting plans for. I just have one question - is the 1000 wheel the same as the 600 wheel? Seems simple enough a question, but I don't get along well on the CBR forums (mostly on account of only asking about compatibility questions with non CBR bikes, I assume). So far as I can tell they are exactly the same, so I guess all I'm really asking is are the brakes and axles the same? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i like to go to bikebandit and check the part number for the according different items, my friend has a cross reference program at work so I can ask him in a pinch, but if bandit's parts fiche has the same number, it's almost 100% sure it's the same part

Yup you have to do research. use a site that has parts breakdown and compare part numbers. in the case of the font wheel i would compare axles, bearings, rotors and well the wheel itself. there is also places that will tell you bearing sizes so you can use those sizes to adapt your front wheel to other bikes.
