Howdy from central Jersey Shore!
My current ride is a Sportster which I am currently working on making into a Cafe bike. Don't know how this sits with the Cafe community at large but oh well. I love cafe bikes in all their forms. Hopefully this forum and its members will be full of inspiration and help.

i've only seen one sportster cafe and it was nice (sure there have been many made). took me a while to realize what it was. but once i realized it... i wished i had the money to get a sportster and turn it into a cafe.

It's a rare build. Go for it. After all, cafe racers were all about individual tastes and performance. :D

Sportys have their place in the "cafe" lineup. Their kind of like the bastard-child of the H-D line. It IS an H-D, but it's not your grandpa's H-D. The Evo motors have great torque and a lot of potential along with a slew of aftermarket "go-fast" parts that don't have H-D crap stamped all over them. The biggest issue with Sportys is the handling. They're CoG is extremely high, but you can use that to your advantage in the corners, you can flick it back and forth FAST if you know what you're doing. Not that I'm telling you what to do, but IF you were wanting to make it handle great, get the 2" drop springs for the front and a set of 4-way Progressives in the rear and slam it down to the lowest setting when you want to tear up some twisties. They're great bikes to modify because they're EASY as can be to work on, 'cept major engine work of course. Come around more often and get some pictures up.

Here it is at the moment. It still has a looooong way to go but its a start I suppose.
