Hi Guys n gals,

My name is Glen and I have a Z400 cafe that I built about 18 months ago. I live in Leicester England,...which is right slap in the middle of the country is you want to look at a map ;-)

I am a senior member on the KTOF Kawasaki twin owners forum,....and you can get through to that by looking at KZ400.com and follow your nose to the forum.

Heres a couple of piccys of my bike....one as it was just built and another one or two out and about at the ace cafe in London etc ;-)

I am still a bit slow on these forum things,...so take it easy with me if you ask for a reply or whatever, I am not that good with computers

Are there any other Zed cafes out here ??? would love to share some details

Cheers for now,

Glen ;-)

Welcome to the site Glen. Very nice bike you have there. Love the tank and the colour scheme. There are a few Z cafe's here, poke around in the 'Show 'n Shine' and 'Big Arse Projects!' to see some. Lots of other types of bikes here too. Pretty well rounded group ;D

Glen Thatttsss a great looking bike you got there ;D I am origonaly from Erdington,Birmingham!! there were some good clubs back in the day in Leicester/ Hinckley..this a great allround site with lots of info and help, and you will notice the Kawi crowd is getting bigger ;D ;D jim

That is one F@#$ing SWEEEET Bike. You'll have to get us some specs on it. Tail and tank, What are they?

Thanks for the warm welcome guys ;-)

And yes mate, there are still a good few biker groups around Leicester. Obviously the wet n windy times are upon us, but there are some lovely meets at old pubs etc all around the county,... I'll pop a few more piccys on if that is OK with you lot ?

Tank and ...(well almost everything really) were found on Ebay ;-) I was looking for 'another' CB72 as I had one when I was 16 as my first bike on the road,...that was in a cafe trim as I had to repair a few little scrapes where it had gone down the road at about 20mph ?? !!

Looking on Ebay and around, I soon realised that the old Hondas are like hens teeth, and it was more by luck than judgement that I stumbled on the KZ site, I met (in emails etc) the founder of the site/forum who was a great chap named Odd Ivar Bekklund....nicknamed Ibby.

Unfortunately he had a heart attack and died last Christmas, but the site and forum are still going strong....and with a great bunch of guys n gals on board ;-)

Specs of the bike...

Standard frame, forks and rear wheel....front TLS wheel out of a Yammy YDS5/7 ?? ...Ally tank off ebay ? unknown ?....seat homebrew fibreglass on a plywood and Ally strip base, the rear hump holds a little seat pad and the large seat can 'move back' about 5" to take a small passenger.....hence the rear fold away passenger pegs. Engine is bog standard apart from a homebrew single carb manifold running a Honda CR125 35mm F/S carb...standard pipes with short R/C megas....Ace bars with ? switches/controls ? ....Fake fibreglass oil tank is from an autojumble, poss made for a Norton and holds the battery and all the leccys ;-)...Loads of homebrew brackets and clamps etc etc

Glen ;-)

Beautiful bike!!!! All the little details show and make for one hell of a Zed!
There are a few of us KZ cafe riders here, myself included. There are a few other really nice kz400 (or z400 for you guys across the big pond), my and a few other kz650s, and I think a couple of bigger Zeds too.

Just a few more piccys to bore you with ;-))

This is my missus and our eldest Grand-daughter at an old car/bike meet at a local country pub......

My Grand-daughter sitting on the bike,...and then a couple of her with me on the bike with the 'moveable seat' back in its rear position ;-)

It was a sad day when Ivar passed away. :(
He was a great guy.
I had the pleasure of messaging back and forth with him a few times.
He was always there to give help.
He was a regualr on kzrider.com as well as other forums.
He's missed by many riders.
