This one is a low-mileage, unmolested bike and it's staying that way. No mods, not even different handlebars.

Here's what I had to do:
Tear out Kreem liner (tank was fine underneath; not sure why it was Kreemed in the first place
Rebuild petcock
Re-plumb gas lines
Clean carb and jets
Tune carb -- thanks to a friend who's really good at that, it runs perfect
Rebuild twist grip/slider throttle assembly
Replace old tires with Firestone whitewalls that came free with the bike
Replace rectifier with modern $3.50 Radio Shack one -- now the charging system charges the battery with the headlights turned on ;-)
(see this link: http://physiology.usouthal.edu/restore/diode/diode.html)

Sorry for the phonecam pic...

THAT my friend is the Bees knees. like an old caddie with the fins from the 50's just coooool. all day long

Don't even think of modding out that bike, it's great as is. Besides, pressed-steel frames are so not cafe.

Wow- really cool & I wouldn't do a thing to it either, kinda like riding a time capsule, bikes back then came from the factory w/ character.

Damn that's cool!

The only thing I'd do is a bar and mirror swap... but I never could leave well enough alone ;D

Never really liked these bikes... But now I want one! ( thanks a lot !) I think it is a wise choice not to molest it ...simply TOO nice to alter !!!

Now you have 2 people that officially hate you !

Congrats on a great score, and enjoy it !

Are those handlebars bent, or is it just the camera angle?

Yep, the handlebar is bent, although I think it must have just fallen over in storage or something because there's no other damage. I'm not sure how I'm gonna bend it back yet ;-)
