Off-Run-Off to Push-Button Killswitch

In the process of simplifying my hand controls, I tore open my toggle switch/starter button box with the intentions of running a dirtbike push-button killswitch. However, after taking the toggle off I realized that the two have totally different setups. Mine (And I'm assuming most battery-operated bikes) bridges the connection between the two wires allowing it to run, whereas the dirtbike kind (running off a magneto) basically shorts out the coils. I have an idea of how I would make a push-button work, but it'd require making my own switch which I'm not capable of doing. Are there any available setups so I don't have to choose between wiring it to "run" constantly and running a clunky setup?
 
get a push button switch that disconnects when pushed. no other way aroud it really, or you need to start working with a relay switch.
 
Right, I was wondering if there were any available disconnect switch setups besides car or industrial sizes.
 
problem with a single button is you can't tell if its onor off
unless you can find one that stands taller in one position or you could have an ignition OFF,key ON indicator light
what about a simpler switch i have one you could have cheap
it has simple on off function and a button for start or horn
off a cbr cool loooking switch

What you are looking for is a 'momentary normally closed switch' of the spst variety though that part is less important as the spdt, dpst and dpdt switches will all work too, they just have extra connections that you wont use. A 'momentary normally closed' switch will connect the two wires whenever you aren't pushing it which is just what the regular kill switch does in the 'run' position and will break the connection whenever you push it which will kill the engine.
