sort of new to this but here it goes. I just picked up a pretty clean 83 CB 250 custom. probly a bit small for me but im planning on working my way up as my skills get better. I have to ability to hand the bike down which made the decision to pick the bike up easy however the plan was to find a bike andmake it into a cafe racer. I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with the look, the bikes, the gear, the culture. Im green to say the least but just looking for some pointers. Is this a bike that can be modified easily? I see alot of parts for 350's and up...... Should I start with something larger? Im pretty new for this so any advise on where to look, things to look into and where to start would be greatly appreciated. hope to get some feedback

Welcome to the site man! There's nothing wrong with the smaller bikes. Just don't plan on riding 2 up or hitting up the highway with it. Any pics of the 250 in question?

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. I'll be posting some pics soon. I'm stoked about getting to work on the bike and riding. Good to know I can ask questions. The bike needs some work but should be a blast!

Very seldom does a question go un-answered around here. Where about are you from? CB250's aren't exactly everywhere.......

Trust me Im sure I'll be asking some very IQ questioning inquiries along the way but looking forward to the responses. Im from buffalo. My sister's friend is moving for college and was looking for a buyer and I couldn't pass it up. It was the right time sort of thing. Her and her father work on bikes and picked it up outside batavia, ny. They haven't had the time to work on it with her school and all so other than some general up keeping the bike appears stock.

Welcome to the site - you'll find tons of helpful people here, and I'm sure you'll bump into some of us on the road (not literally I hope).

Get your pin up on the Member Map and check out who's close by. I'm up in Toronto, so not far off.

Thanks for the advise. I just got the pin up and checking out all the posts/pics/and projects that peeps put up is amazing. I have to see who's around and look forward to getting some advise with work on the bike in the future. hope to have some basic pics posted soon.

Can anyone give me some info on the differences b/t the cm250 and cb250? I see alot of cb's and cafe mods, in comparison to the cm250. Does this have to do simply with the history of the bike, or the framing, motor, ability to mod the bike? Can you mod cm250's as well? any thoughts would be helpful for future buying.
