Overpriced?

Gettin my life together. One bolt. At a time.

this guy is asking $3750, I'm not 100% sure of the value of these machines, but something tells me that this thing should go for $2500-$2750. What do you guys think?

It's worth exactly what someone is willing to pay.
What is it you are willing to pay?
Getting the Internet to validate an offer is strange as there are a million variables.

Solid cb750s bring good money. Mostly because that's what other sheep look for(says the guy with two) I'll say that the $4k buys many other better performing bikes. But that's the going rate if it's sorted well.

Those poorly fitting and stupid clubman bars tell me it was built for the hipster bandwagon, or buy and ignorant person. Those might be a red flag to some, or a bonus depending on goals.

We have a million "what's this worth" threads with people hating on bikes and prices. Or stories of mint ones for $100 at yard sales. It's a used bike and values are all over the place

Then again we have threads "why can't I sell my bike for $XXXXXXXX" with guys validating prices based on all the hard work and custom parts. Again not really all that much help.

The Internet is not the place for answers to every question. I would suggest you research CL and eBay, or dare I say it, go to local shops and talk to local people about bikes and prices. Location makes a huge difference in prices.
Also don't just limit to one bike for no good reason

I'm with Yogi - clubmans, bar end mirrors, fresh paint, and polished aluminum do NOT make a bike worth $3750.

Unless he farmed out all the work and is trying to break even.........

Again it depens on a ton of variables.
A good paint job isn't cheap, but some think paint can be done for $3.96 in cans from Walmart.

A legal turn key with proper paint cb750 is not a $500 bike. Couldn't pay someone $4k to build it from a lump.

The OP is looking at a "finished" bike so clearly he doesn't want/know how to build it, so debating value and price is a waste of time. Real help is teaching the guy what to look for in a used bike or trying to find out how $4k can buy a nice part of this bandwagon.

Best advice, might not wanta hear it...
Can you swing alittle more money? Or willing to take a loan?
Find a used thruxton or bonnie should be able to fine on under $5500.
All the looks, but with modern performance and none of the worry about keepin it going.

Although I know I overpaid for my bike, as I added up all the bits I would have had to buy to get to the point it was in when I bought it the amount I over paid wasn't a ton. Thats always something to consider, a $1000 dollar stock bike can quickly become a money pit if you are going to rip it apart to do a custom build. Personally I'd rather over pay a little for a mechanically well sorted bike as my first one.

Having said that the lessons learned on this bike will translate to a much better cost/reward on my next one.

Clearly you haven't read my introductory posts, Im keen on tinkering on a bike myself. The reason I was asking was because I see a lot of other CBs that are going from 800-1400 and this just seemed ridiculous. At no point in my post did i claim i wanted this bike. I would rather get a stock rundown bike that hasnt been dicked with by some hipster, than a project bike that looks pretty but is taped together with spit and chewing gum. I work on cars with my dad so Im pretty picky on craftsmanship. Im not going to sit on someone elses liability going down the highway at 60mph.

To me, what I wanted to get out of the post is what you more familiar guys can spot immediately from just the pictures that nullify the ridiculous price. The little details that someone who doesnt have 25+ years of experience would overlook. And Ive gotten some pretty interesting comments on this bike. The handlebars and shocks for instance. It's stuff like that that I won't overlook (edit) now when I actually make a purchase and get a bike.
