People in the UK, what have you done with your license plate?!

I tend to agree with Teazer on the side mount - but it's a subjective thing.

I like what this fella did: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=44492.msg575400.msg#575400

On that particular bike I agree it looks ok. Honestly, I don't like the tradtional placement at center rear just under the seat cowl but it's a darn sight better than the side mount imho. I don't know that there is an easy answer as to where to put your plate and make it look decent.

Mine's in my tank bag until I finally make a new mount for it and it looks great ;)

Yes well I use to carry the plate from my Triumph daytona in my backpack until I got pulled over by the law and the guy went ballistic! One of those nut job cops that thought a couple of vehicle infringements is almost as bad as commiting murder... no bueno!

Yeah...after typng this out I went outside and cut the new one. Think I'll go for one last law-shirking ride and then put it on.

I left the old broken mount on in case I got pulled for it, but I've ridden right in front of cops several times with no issue.

In the uk for 2 years recently with my plate pointing up nearly, never got pulled for it, took a bit of charm at mot time but some places let u get away with it. Side mount is allowed in uk but there are strict rules on the angles it can be seen from behind. Do a quick search on google i once found a diagram showing what u are allowed for side mount.

Yorkie, yours is ok in black and white as its pre 73 but it should be on two lines not 3.

Actually, 3 lines is perfectly legal on pre-73 bikes.

I got mine from here: http://www.classicmotorcycleplates.co.uk/ ...nice quality and quick turnaround (3 days I think).

Looks nice and small too:

In the U.S., this can get you pulled over for not being lit up.....Not often enforced, but some cops will look for reasons....

I really don't see the need to have a light on your tag. Here in Ga. the tags are reflective and glow like a spot light is on them when you pull up behind one at night so why the need for a light that barely illuminates them anyway.

Having a real need for one, versus having a law that requires it, is different. Not all the states have reflective plates either....

But at least in NY and NJ, a white light illuminating the plate is required.

Not enforced, but it is one of those items that allows the popo to mess with you if they want.

I'm a firm believer in any law that isn't or shouldn't be enforced should be taken off the books.

Can't help but agree with you there.
