plug wires

Recently picked up these wires from dime city. Question -->do i need to have a rubber boot at the end i connect to the spark plug or is it ok to leave it exposed like that. i think those boots that come with it are for the connection to the coil. Seems kinda dangerous to leave it open but i think that would look better ..,

thanks,
Axe

How do you plan on fixing them to the plug without the boot? Are you looking to do the old-fashioned eyelet with a knurled nut on the threaded end of the plug to hold it on?

I've seen some bikes done like that, including Troy's Willow (do a search on it for pics - awesome bike and a great build thread to read through). Not sure what happens if you brush up against the exposed connection.

What ignition are you running? If electronic at all, you'll likely want to run the 'Resistor' R type plugs. Usually you want either resistance built into the boots (5K ohms is common) or in the plugs (not both) with electronic ignitions such as a Pamco, Dyna, Boyer etc.

thanks for the reply tim I am running points and coils. the ends of those wires have a slip on metal attachment peice (the finished end in the picture)that slides right over the spark plug ( i assume) so they pop onto the plug i just didn't know if they required insulators. Don't want to get zapped just to look cool

well called dcc and just posting this in case anyone has the same question. they said no insulating boots required. you will get zapped if you touch the plug head so don't do it dummy. Cool like the way it looks rawdawg
