I'm thinking of polishing some peoples motor covers to make some money. wanted to get a feeler for what people would pay...
i was thinking 200 dollars to do the side covers and head cover on a cb350, 360 etc... small displacement stuff. would probably make pricing on a per product basis.... just want to get some ideas.
I'm not a seasoned expert, but the price i ask is for around 12 or 14 hours of work, if i still want to get a nice finish. My work is good though... i have tons of hours of practice, and can definitely polish better then anyone who JUST gets into it... micro scratches are my ultimate peev. where would the money go? to my CB350 project. first 200 bucks i would make would go to a larger motor and new buffing wheels, so that i could decrease turnaround time.
shippings extra of course, but that could be worked out.
again, this is just a feeler, trying to see what the market wants.
heres some early work... looks nicer in person, plus my skills have improved. if you look at the cam box cover, thats what the parts looked like when i started.
stainless steel... harrddd to polish, but doable. left one is in the middle of sanding, right one is first stage of buff.
heres a piece before its final ... what i call "gloss polish". i use a fine liquid to remove excess rouge and to really make the parts gleem (and makes water bead off nicely)
