But tune, optimas do suck! I've had one good one and 2 bad ones. Always got the yellow tops though. Went back to NAPA legend batteries

I know all about it, they were bought out by Johnson's Controls for the electric car line and they cheapened them up for a minute until they realized the customer base, I think they have it fixed, but I will be running a backup deep cycle that's a bunch more money but worth it for running camp gear and charging my cell phone ::) 8)

My mom is a machinist whose biggest customer has been Johnson Controls for the better part of 10 years now. Their tolerances for her parts are so tight, I'm really surprised by that. Then again, I shouldn't surprised by any cost cut measure that effects quality from an American business anymore, should I?

Cool good info.

The concept is great. I was asking a lot of my batteries as a younger man, always had the 3000 watt subs pounding. In high school I used to park my blazer by the huge Spanish class windows and watch them shake so bad it looked like they should break. Fuck You Mrs. Weiderspan!! Fuck you Mr. Alonso!!

But really I probably should have bought better alternators instead.

I will reinvestigate the possibility next time, now that I have someone to blame if it sucks again. HA!!

The alternator will get a big upgrade also, but no overkill I'm not planning to plow snow so more robust internals and bearings than big amp output.

Johnson's is like an island that wont play well with others and yes they run a very tight ship, they hate open source and would rule the controls industry if they could. Companies like Lutron, Acuity and TRANE are moving rapidly towards open source, Backnet is now required and systems are now compatible, but JC would have you believe otherwise.

Not exactly bike things, but business stuffs for the lathe work.

Picked up two 1972 SL175's. They are both in pretty good shape aside from the usual cosmetic stuff. Also got a few extra gas tanks.. paid $140 for everything. Next weekend I'm picking up a 1941 Indian Scout for $125. 8) ...Sorry for the shitty photos

Also want to add that my wife is the one who found me this deal lol... We were at a flea market and she saw an old Honda gas tank on a blanket on the ground and said "Hey, Dave, a honda tank." I started talking to the guy and bingo... My Wife is my secret squirrel mechanic

Got some new style (to me) rim savers, bead holder, degree wheel and a fresh set of sync tubes and I even paid em for it... Also a new must be rubber plated gold battery tray from Toyota

That's funny, my wife finds my best deals too. She found a 76 mr175 elsinore for $75 last winter.

If my lady starts finding deals like that, she'll get the ring she wants much quicker.
Yeah man, was a clutch find... the best part is that it led to the Indian Scout deal.. which is pretty amazing haha

Yo Deviant, when I get to a certain point in my build with these bikes can I bounce questions off ya? Your XL175 is a big influence on the direction I want to go with these.
