blood, sweat and gears
Ok so a few months ago I picked up a lil 77' Honda CJ360T. It wasnt the first bike on my list to attempt a cafe conversion but the CJ was in good nick and had a good price so I couldnt say no. It also seems the CJ360T is quite rare over here in the UK so am happy about that.
So to the donor bike, after hunting around through many websites and magazine ads I found this 1977 Honda CJ360T on eBay. It was one of three bikes I had my eye on, but after the other ones went for more than silly money my attention was drawn to this little rare beast.
Although the previous owner had an unsuccessful go at refreshing the tank and mudguard with paint, which looks pretty bad in my opinion, the good news however was that the frame, engine and chrome was all in a good state.
With an added bonus from the previous owner who installed brand new rear shocks in the month before selling.
So now to the plan, forgot to mention this will not be a quick project as I have limited free time at the mo with work and life but with a lot of cups of tea along the way I can only hope it turns out half as good as the previous bikes that have graced the DTT site that have inspired me along the way.
Im in no way gifted in the arts of mechanics so this will not be a one man project, I will be getting advice hopefully from DOTHETON members and help from my father in law who is a dab hand at all things mechanical, a gifted guy!
I decided to name my bike today and start the thread, its now called 'Honton', this will be explained in the next few posts hopefully...
To 'Honton' and Maisey the Boxer...
