Quick question on lacing a wheel

I have my new Buchanan's spokes here and was going to start lacing the wheels back up well atleast the front since my rear one is out if commission. But I'm a bit confused. From what I read and watched I'm hearing that the 90 degree spoke is the outer and the less than 90 is the inner. But I'm confused, I would think the 90 would be the inner so it would go straight up into the rim and the less than 90 be the outer so it's angled into the center of the rim? Also"preload" how do I know how much preload I need on a cb750?

Your right. The more bent around spoke head is for the outside as it needs to curl around the hub and come back in line for the rim centre.
 
Don't worry about 'pre-load' until you get everything assembled.
I also wouldn't worry too much about angles either, there's a 'long one' and a 'short one', just try fitting a spoke into hub and you should see what I mean.
The 'short leg' won't allow spoke to fit into wheel rim because of hub flange thickness, it will stick out at odd angle
The drilled recess in hub allows 'short leg' spoke to fit properly
I tend to assembled 'outside - in' spokes first, the inside out' can be fitted later (unless your doing Harley spoke pattern where all the heads are showing)

Nope, that's mostly right and pretty much the way I do them.
It's much easier to deal with half the spokes at a time
One thing though, sometimes the 'second side' spokes may be one hole offset the other direction to what he's showing
Notice he skipped a large chunk after the first spoke, pretty sure it didn't line up as expected?
There are various 'patterns' depending on how many spokes are 'crossed' by an outer and you my find 'cross 2, cross3, cross 4' on conventional wheels
Cross3 is most common, the more spokes a single spoke crosses over the stronger a wheel will be
 
But what he says in the video is the 90 degree(the shorter spoke) is the outer when I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the inner.
