i've got a '75 cl360 and no garage. i've got a cover i keep it under but condensation or whatever still gets in and bolts and nuts and shocks and etc. all start to rust. short of chroming or painting everything is there anything i can do?

i expect not but figure it couldn't hurt to ask.

I used to wipe down the bare metal tank on my old CB360 with WD-40 every other day and it never rusted. I have also used a product called Momar that protects against rusting. I think there are certain metal polishes that claim to protect your precious metal bits as well.

Other than that, I have no idea...

I've had good luck with acf-50. It's an airframe corrosion protectant and the company says it lasts up to two years per application, which I've found is bullshit. Rub it on once a month and it should do you good. It's safe for paint, plastic and rubber. Only downside is it attracts dust.

I saw this stuff at the store last week, in with the spray paints:

Interesting. Has anyone tried it?

I see a lot of woodworkers and machinists using Boeshield T-9 to keep their work surfaces from rusting, it's supposed to be pretty good. Comparing the MSDS sheets, it looks like the Rustoleum and Boeshield have some of the same stuff but in very different concentrations.

why has nobody on this website heard of OSPHO? I thought everyone knew about this stuff...guess I'm wrong about that. Anyway, wd-40 every other day is annoying, wiping ocndensation off to prevent rust is annoying...get some Ospho and wipe it on, let it dry then just go over it with a dry cloth to make sure there is no residue left then forget about rust for pretty much ever.

cover recessed bolts (allen heads etc) with a small layer of grease. same with others, unless if its too unsightly.

upgrade to good STAINLESS hardware and you wont have this issue.

the website just talks about paint prep. does this stuff work on non painted metal too?

yeah it works better than anything out there for bare metal. The gas cap on my tank has no chrome on it so it was rusting. I don't really like chrome and I wanted to keep the bare metal of it so I just wiped OSPHO on it about 2 months ago and haven't had a spec of rust since. It's totally worth the money, especially for humid salty air places like where I live.
