Rearset mounting plate material

I'm setting up some rearsets for my CB350. I no longer am using the passenger peg brackets. The mounting brackets will be bolted onto steel tabs welded to the frame.
I have some 3/16" aluminum plate available, but thinking this may be a little thin.
Probably mock up in steel and then once location is right, do the brackets in aluminum.

1/4" plate will be sufficient, 5/16th will be better.

I used 1/4" for my 750.

This is what I did on my 500.

I welded steel to the frame of the 750. But 5/16th will work In aluminum.

I can't see pictures (blocked on this network) but I just made mine out of 1/2" aluminum although I had to thin the corners where it attaches down to about 1/4" which may or may not come back to haunt me.
