Red Wing shocks

Anyone familiar with "Loudfastugly.com"? I've called them 3 times, and only gotten the answering machine. I've left massages, and no one has returned my calls. He seems to have what I want, at the right price, but no response. Anyone have a good source for some rear shocks?
 
I am familiar with the site I spoke to the guy once is nice enough but he moves a lot from what I gather when he is doing this the site is unmanned so to speak.
If you are looking for redwing shocks check out 650 rider.com. I know it's not a honda site. register it's free and then ask "roy fisk" where to get some redwings he has a line on them he's in Guilford, Vermont just over the border from Mass.

If you need more help let me know I will see what else I can find.
I don't know if you are eye to eye or does the honda have a celvis at the end of the shock? and what length do you want to run?
 
Thanks, I'll take a look at the 650 group. I need Eye to Clevis. The stockers are 12" (which is a bit tall and stiff sprung, probably due to the negative press when the CB500T was introduced in '75.) Cycle mag said the rear was too soft, and showed pictures of the stand scraping in a hard corner. Mine is a '76, Honda must have upped the spring rate a bit too much, to accommodate the jaded cry babies at the cycle mag. Something slightly less than 12" would improve the profile of the bike, and give it a better cafe look.

I have seen custom shocks at 11 1/2 (buddy has a sportster he has customized crazy) but I should think 11 would do you fine if you are looking to lower your stance.
 
Thanks for the tip on Cycle-Re-Cycle, but; I just got off the phone with some guy there, and don't think I'll be sending any money his way. The arrogant bastard got snotty with me when I asked if the 11" shocks were in stock, because the web site said they were out of stock. Of course God, and everybody knows that web sites don't get up-dated in real time, but I didn't bother to explain that to him. Yet for some reason he thought it was O.K. to call Tuesday to see if they come in ???

Then when I asked him if the chrome cap was removable, He muttered something about "necessary tools", and started telling me how all the other bikes from that era had the caps on the shocks, "your putting a short shock on there anyway Bud, it wont make that much difference." ...... Welllll it does so make a difference!

I thanked him for all his opinions, and hung up.

I'm sure others have had good experiences with the company, and believe me Herm21, I'm not unhappy with you, and I appreciate you offering what looked like a good resource.

I bought a set of red wing shocks from them for an xs 650 cafe I have been working on for over a year. Shocks arrived with no problems but haven't dealt with them since.

HAHAHAHA--- I know the guy you talked to! His name is Rob (owner) and you have him described perfectly "BUD". I live in the same town he's in and tho he is a good source for used parts (he's a bike breaker) I cannot stand to go in there. Only the most desperate part hunters do. He has to tell YOU what you want and gets angry when you don't buy it! If you ask for something rare, he laughs at you.
So... I found this thread in a search for RedWing Hammerheads. I know where to get them, I just don't have any info on how well they work. Any advice?? They sure look the part. Are they stuck after 30 yrs on the shelf? Will they adjust to a firm ride? Seem good quality?

He has a set of NOS, never been put together, eye to eye, reverse hammer Redwing Shocks, that hes not using.
I do recall him mentioning that he is/was willing to sell them. They still need to be put back together.

hey thanks Noel, and don't you have a set on one of your many rides? I'm curious if they are worth the purchase at any price. there seem to be a bunch of them "left over from the 70's" and it makes me wonder why. I'll check with Hide

Oh yeah.. I have aset instaled on my xs650. Acutally, The set that Hide has was purchased at the same time as the set that I have from the same vendor at a swap meet last year - 2 deal special.. :)

I absolutely love them...

unfortunately, you really cant see them very well because of my exhaust but if you look carefully you'll see they are there:

Just to throw it out there, Jfishsolevibe has some Redwings for sale for $80 (I think they are 12.5 or 13 inches eye to clevis) or JerrysCycles has some 11" eye to clevis for $85
