I'm always into trying new beers from around the country. What are some beers from where you're from that are worth getting my hands on?

Nearly anything from Calapooia Brewing Company. If you're in to "weird" beers, that make one from fresh green chiles which is quite hot and very refreshing. An odd mix to be sure, but good, I think. I usually drink their SantiAmber or Boxcar Brown.

Oh boy, vermont has the Motherload! I would recommend "switchback", probably can't get in indiana they only keg and don't distribute far. Then "the shed mountain ale" is superb. anything from rock art. all of these beers: http://www.7dvt.com/2012vermont-brew-bracket ....are very good. The alchemist Heady topper one of the best beers i've had in a long time.

It's seasonal, but worth the wait- Columbus Brewing Co. Winter Warmer. The best winter ale I've had yet.

For the hops lovers out there another seasonal, Great Lakes brewing Nosferatu.

Kentucky Bourbon Beer - micro-brewed in Lexington, after fermentation, ale is further aged in used local bourbon barrels. Awesome stuff. They also bottle the regular ale as well as a light w/o the barrel aging.

Not available in MI yet ... but worth a drive to OH to get!

If you make it to the Maritimes 2 breweries are worth a visit and product is available from the Liquor stores. Pumphouse Brewery - Fire Chiefs Red ale is awesome, their SOB is great and the muddy river stout is good as well as burns scotch ale. The other is Piccaroons. Yippee IPA is yummie and their winter warmer is good, the whisky cask aged warmer is awesome. They have a lot of other darker beers I can't remember the names of but they all taste good. Just to warn you though we have the highest beer prices in Canada, it sucks balls. It is $14 a six pack for the micro beers. I do get Piccaroons on tap in a 64 oz growler for 10 bucks though.

Cheers.

I love beer ;D

Marshall Wharf Brewery in Belfast Maine makes a very fine dark ale called Phil Brown Ale. Unfortunately it is only available in Draft at their Brew Pub. If you like dark ale, I highly recommend "Brown Dog Ale" brewed by Smuttynose Brewery in New Hampshire.

Goose Island Brewery in Chicago. There popular beer is 312, good wheat beer. The brewery has more beers too

New Glarus, WI, spotted cow, wheat beer, full of flavor, but not too heavy

chippewa falls wi leinenkugels, all of there beers are great. My favorite is probably summer shandy in summer, fireside nut brown in the winter

Highland brewery in Asheville nc has black mocha stout. Its a fine pint for winter drinking. Their gaelic ale is ok too. R.J. rockers is another one close to me. They make a peach beer every summer that is wow! Usually available at the bbq fest in Tryon nc..

Louisiana

I saw this post late last week, and on Saturday I bought a 6 pack of Abita Amber, pretty tastey, taste better a little warmer. If its too cold, I dont get the same flavors

New Glarus in WI has some pretty good brews. (They only sell in WI though) http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/

And Tall Grass has a nice dark beer (Buffalo Sweat) That is awesome. http://www.tallgrassbeer.com/

And lastly Bell's Brewery. The two-hearted ale is delicious and the Expedition Stout is also enjoyable. http://www.bellsbeer.com/brands/info/2

I second most anything from Bell's. Two-hearted Ale is awesome. I like their Best Brown Ale. And Oberon is great, especially as the weather gets warmer.

Someone mentioned the Kentucky Bourbon Ale. I'm not a fan, I think it's way too much stuff going on for an ale, but to each his own. However their Kentucky Bourbon Stout is fantastic.

I used to love Goose Island until they got bought by Anhueser-Busch InBev. I'm sure their beer hasn't changed yet and I hope it remains that way. But most of the time the big companies keep cutting costs and cutting costs until there is nothing left of the original beers. Think Rolling Rock.

Cincinnati has some good up and coming breweries. Anything I have tried from Mt. Carmel Brewing Company has been good. Rivertown Brewing Co is doing some great things too. I really like their winter ale and their Roebling Porter is fantastic.

Rust Belt brewing company in Akron is brewing some great beer too.

And ++ for anything from Great Lakes Brewery. Everything from Great Lakes is awesome. Burning River, Commodore Perry are fantastic. Nosferatu is amazing but you won't be able to find it anywhere. If you ever find it on tap anywhere make sure you get a glass or two, no more than two or you won't walk out!
