RFID Ignition

Been Around the Block
So I installed the RFID ignition as detailed here: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=42385.0 and have a question that maybe the experts can help with. I have it RFID 611T in latching mode time off so I swipe, start/run, kill switch, swipe again to turn off. No relay, it feeds 12v to the main 14gauge wire that feeds everything else essentially the control voltage not the primary.
Anyway if I have the 611T turn on for 30 seconds, start the bike and drop out after I run when I use the kill switch on the bike would die out and I wouldn't need to swipe again. It seems like I would be missing something like charging the battery? Everything still runs even with the switch off lights and all so am I missing something? It was super easy and did it during lunch with a friend and had it operating in style...nothing says cool like passing your hand over your bike and lights coming on...and then watching your boss try the same thing with a look of bewilderment.

Does it always shut off after the same amount of time? My relay is a latching timered relay, if yours is the same maybe you've got it set to timer also?

My timer function can only be used to keep the relay on for a certain amount of time, after that it shuts off again, sounds eerily similar to your problem.

Sorry guys I've been on business away from my bike. I have it so that I swipe it and it's set for 20-25 seconds and drops out, it works just fine and no ill affects that I could see...still charges the battery and lights work. So I'll keep it that way, when I first had it I would swipe run and swipe after the ride and that worked just fine too. Either wait's a $30 badass upgrade!!

Lost my key from vibration, had the RFID kit for a while debating to install. Ordered the DEI 611t latching relay, but the same seller of the RFID kit also sells this http://www.ebay.com/itm/370815834922?redirect=mobile which they say works well with the unit, but I am unsure if it will work for a moto ignition application though I mentioned that to them.

The info is sparse on its exact functions

Has anyone tried it? Would be nice to have one less black box to hide.

Yeah I saw those on eBay the other day PJ. Looks like they do the RFID and that relay as a kit now. No idea on its function but I was a little put off by the fact the relay wasn't enclosed.

So I had some issues with dropping out after 20 seconds, so I changed it to swipe on/swipe off. The key to that relay and the difference is the "latching" part, it has to latch to work correctly. I don't like that isn't enclosed either but I it's up to ou...check to see if it's latching.

We need a good moto centric diagram posted to the thread to assist future installers. I will try when I install this week, but I usually just blaze through forgetting to document.

ive got one of these kits coming and im thinking of some creative spots to put a rfid tag. im thinking of getting some of the sticky discs. has anyone tried reprogramming aftermarket tags with the included master key?

I fried the first RFID reader I got after the wires came loose and I jammed them on the positive terminal (no fuse)...so I have 2 current keys and master key and 2 extra keys to reprogram but afraid it won't work. They say it will with the key BUT....not sure.
I put the RFID tag attached to the back of the license plate with the led indicator in a license plate screw hole. But the 3" isn't really true, I find I am having to touch it to the reader to work.

got in touch with the seller. you "can" reprogram your own tags as long as they are 125khz and use protocol em4102.

my plan is to get the sticker type discs and stick them on a few items i carry with me at all times. one on the helmet, phone and wallet

nedmmo, any install tips? I am about to wire mine in on my two stroke with aftermarket CDI. I just need on/off functions to enable CDI to fire when I hit my kickstarter.

mine actually came pre Installed on a custom harness by sonreir from these forums so I cant help with install. im an electrical dyslexic haha. perhaps Pm him, hes on vacation atm but im sure he will give you some guidance.

gone rogue or in the shed

I'm fairly certain I have all I need, the MZB ignition I have has a genuine Bosch relay, I'm working through all 3 component's schematics this weekend to determine the wiring.
