I've caught the fever, I believe.
Found a $75 neglected one, and hope to cut my teeth.

I've been reading about different projects and seeing pics of results and I'm just hopeful I can
do something to be proud of.

Welcome!
Hey for $75.00 you can't go wrong if the thing is mostly complete.
Even if it's not worth saving you could part it out and get your money back.

Oh and post pics or these guys(and me) will start hassling you!

Sweet,looks pretty complete!
Now get it running and as soon as you do that start the tear down and throw away(or sell if good) what you don't need.
Most of the bikes I get are in that shape(and thus cheap) and you would be surprised how much better it all looks when you get rid of all the ratty stuff right off the bat.

A little sanding/blasting/priming/painting can go a long, long way on projects like that. The longer you keep it as is the longer it will sit and you may become discouraged. Seeing progress, even if little by little is a great motivator.

If the tank is good you could fix and use it,but I've seen very nice CX500 tanks go for around $100.00 shipped on ebay. You may be money ahead if you go that route.

Those "cocktail shaker" mufflers are pretty neat, they just need to be brought back farther and up-swept. A cheap angled piece of exhaust pipe on each side would take care of that.

I THINK SOMEONE WOULD HAVE HAD TO HAVE CARED FOR IT TO BE A CASE OF NEGLECT.
LOOKS LIKE NOONE EVER CARED TILL NOW

GOOD LUCK

Thank you for the kind words.

I have the carbs off and getting ready to soak/clean them (Best solvent for soaking?).
They look pretty clean on the inside, just need to scrub the gunk off the exterior.

I took the exhaust mufflers off, and will be cleaning/polishing/removing rust today.

Gas tank was removed and I put some kerosene in to soak (I'm going the BB route as suggested by someone from a different forum.)

Good to know I have people watching out for me, thank you.
