rim not centering on rear tire

I've just remounted this wheel. It's got a tube in it. I can't seem to get the rim to sit in the middle of the tire. If you look at the side wall you can see what I'm saying. It's definitely not going to balance right. The tube was a bitch to get in there. Maybe the tubes twisted? This happen to anyone? Anyone got any ideas? I've deflated the wheel and tried to reinflate, but I keeps getting out of wack.



 
Spray a little soapy water around the bead, break it down, and reinflate. You sometimes have to put quite a bit of extra pressure in a tire to get the bead to "pop" into place. The soapy water lubrication is important. Helps a lot. I have gone as far as 90 psi before a cheat tire would seat. Made me nervous as shit, worrying that the tire might just pop, which could be dangerous.
 
Yep - what ADC said. The bead isn't seated all the way round the rim.

As an aside, I had a shop put a car tyre on my Intruder rear rim and it took over 100psi to pop the bead. I tried not to watch.....
 
Yes, 90 psi or so, soapy water, or windex is what I sometimes use. Take the tire valve out first and then the air will go in a lot quicker, after the tire has beaded properly you can put the valve back in and inflate to the proper pressure.
 
I have been know to use hotel shampoo has a tire mounting lubricant.

Sounds like you have no other use for the shampoo (Chrome Dome???) 8)

That was a three week trip from Philadelphia, to Kanab, UT, & back. This picture was taken in Kanab at the Perry Lodge where I met up with the Road King Riders, a forum group. There were about 60 bikes there. Mostly Harleys, but I showed up on a 30 year old Suzuki 450.

I did my laundry that day while waiting for my new tire to arrive before heading back home.
