Sean's Q&A Thread

First off, I'd like to thank all the guys at Tim's tonight for the warm welcome and kindly answering all my questions. I've learned so much today, especially that none of you guys really like your bikes, because you all were so eager to sell or part out your bikes. ;D

Being the noob that I am, I still have so many question and things to learn. So, instead of opening a thread every time I have a question, I'm going to use this thread of all the Qs I cannot find answers for by searching.

So here it goes.

Any of you know what this bike is? I like the over all stance of the bike and how the seat is much lower thn the fuel tank.

looks like a T-500 or smaller...T200.. parts for those bikes are a real pain in the ass.

Sean, that bike is completely modified. (most cafe racers out there are!!), They change the bike to the way they want it. You wont find any of these bikes fresh off a production line unless you buy a Triumph or a Ducati.

They change the seat height, by shaving the foam or changing the seat.
They change the stance of the bike using short shocks or pushing the forks through the uppper tripple clamp.
They change the color by painting the bike!!
etc..etc...

The fact is you can change ANY bike to make it look, feel, smell or taste like ANY bike you want it to look like. Its all up to you!...(simply time and money)

Since you are not new to riding, Id recommend that you get a good solid running bike that you are not gonna out grow in a year or two.

Dont over plan it.

Ya Sean,

If you follow through a number of the project threads you'll soon see that nearly any bike can be 'cafenated'!! There will always be a debate about what you can, can't, should or shouldn't do!! That's what makes this process of building your bike your way, so fun!! Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. We won't always agree... but that's o'k! As long as you like/love it... great!

I'm always amazed at the creative minds that hang out on this board! People here 'see' things differently than most. I love it!

Like Noel said, find a solid bike for reasonable $ and get started! You'll never be the same!

One more thing. You'll NEVER be finished with your bike either! At least, not until you sell it! ;D

ARe you kidding me??..LOL...I think you intentionally drain the oil on your bikes just so that you, Helena & Katrina can rebuild them again ...and again..and again..and again...

thats definitely a suzi. i would go something bigger.... Kz's are pretty nice, or maybe a early RD. its what im looking at getting for my next project! :D

I understand it's heavily moded. I was wondering what bike that is because the seat is much lower thn the tank compare to other bikes. To achieve the look, you'd have to either lower the seat right down to the frame or raise the tank or get a taller tank. I'm just curious to know if there is frame that gives the look without heavy mod.

And yes, I'm so looking forward to making my own bike. I'm going to keep it over 400cc and under 600cc.

I'm on the board and the interweb every night reading like mad and just learning about bikes and ways to build is fun in itself. Being the anal type that I am, I'll actually get a bike or a rolling frame only after I have carefully planned out the build. But I cant wait to have my own cafe and go on a ride with you guys. ;D

Nope there isnt...all the stock seats that Ive ever seen have about 5 inchs of foam on top of the pan and usually line up with the top of the tank...
the only exception that I know of in the Honda world is the 65-67 honda cb450 Bomber..
