seat pan material

I am ordering parts to have sent to my house for when I get home to do up my cb (really a CL) 350 cafe...

I am making a cafe seat via the old gas tank method.. but as I recall from the winter when I had my seat off, I believe my seat pan was plastic is it not? If it is what is the best way to attacth the tank section? Epoxy?

Also - I looked on ebay for another CB250 seat and asked the seller what the pan was made out of. He said METAL... so I am like hmmm... I wonder what I have to work with when I get back. I'd like to use the seat pan so it is nice and bolt/on as opposed to making a seat from plywood....

Thoughts?

ps - its a '72 if that makes any diff....

Every old Honda seatpan I've ever seen was metal. Can't be sure about the 350 but it's likely metal.

+1 my 72 cb350 seat pan was metal.

Another thought....
I had a seat pan from a cb350 from DrJ, that I had chopped,(to make it thinner & keep the stock hinges and lock in place), sandblasted then painted.
I was planning to bolt a fiberglass cafe seat right on top of that chopped seat pan and have it as a spare.
I just gave it to Martin along with all my unused cb350 parts when he bought the bike from me.
I dont believe Martin is using it and may be willing to sell it to you if you want to go that route.
If thats the way you want to go, you'll just have to find a fiberglass seat that you want and bolt it on top of the pan.

If ur interested, let me now or email martin: martincmar@gmail.com
