Seca Cafe Progress

Latest progress on the bike - FINALLY got the turn signals installed. Unfortunately the relay I ordered was a dud - so I'm considering other options now.
But they suuure look a hell of alot better!

Awaking this topic from the dead to continue with winter mods!
(although I'm sure there's a more recent posting around here somewhere with the lowering of the headlight... hmm...)

Well, anyway, here's the lowering of the headlight, hah:

Not a huge difference, but it will be once I grind off a bracket that's keeping it up a bit and lower the gauges...

Most recent progress is the new Tarozzi Clip-ons I got from Jim Hinshaw (hinshawj@bellsouth.net)... Great guy, has been corresponding with me to make sure everything worked out ok.

Here they are:

And here they are "installed" (not quite, need to replace the MC with a remote reservoir - Have one ordered from an R6...:

MC gets hung up on the clamp, even if reversed ;D:

(Yep, that's a DTT patch in the tax disc holder!) ;D ;D ;D

Very nice,I would love to have those clip-ons for a couple of my bikes. I have seen that type for sell on e-bay.

How much them clip-ons run you? They look nice and beefy. You think they would have them in 33mm?

Yep! I saw them on e-bay first but they hadn't surfaced in a while so I messaged the seller, and found the he had a bunch in stock (in 36mm).
He's trying to start up a website now: www.fastfromthepast.com

Cost was $129.00 plus shipping.

I'll send him an e-mail about other sizes and get back to you tomorrow.

He has 33mm in stock.

Check out the post in "sources for parts" I copied the e-mail there.

Thanks man. Don't really have any spare cash just yet, but I'll keep it in mind.

crap! I bought the same clip ons (love them) for my yamaha maxim 400. I didnt think about the master cylinder having clearance problems! I'm still in the building stage and have not transfered controls over from my old bars.

A word of caution before you switch to a different master cylinder: Make sure you get the same bore diameter as what you had originally.

Ask me how I know this, hahaha!

...Figured I'd post up a few more pics, just because I have some. Since the last post there have been a couple "minor" changes... Switched out the master cylinder as planned and changed over to stainless lines. Also started getting the other project bike ready to tear apart (and got it running).

Also picked up another project... The S10. Not really a "project" but I'll be painting and lowering it.

Looks great! Nice work. :)

Thanks!

The bike is starting to look a little "heavy" to me... I think because of lowering it.
Oh well. No plans to tear out the airbox and side covers just yet! Maybe after I get the truck painted and the Katana on the road, hah.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

The tank decal I did up myself on the comp. and brought the JPG to a local sign place to get em cut out of white vinyl.
I could send you the JPG (or you could save the images below) if you want and you can take it to get made where you are - or I could go down to the same place that I got mine and get em to do off a couple in black (I told them to keep the image on file incase I effed it up).

There were actually 2 designs I did up. The one I used:
Decal-YamahaFlag.jpg

And this one:
Decal-YamahaFlag2.jpg

The girl at the sign shop did all the digital fixing and what not to make it nice and not pixelated.
All I actually got was the white from the picture - it would have been easy enough to get the exact image screen printed on to a sticker-like vinyl but the black would fade, and a dual layer vinyl would be too thick to sand smooth after clearcoating.
Plus my bike was going black - so the sticker didn't need it.

Hey Ease, Hope you don't mind but I took you photo and created a vector image of your yamaha flag that anyone can take to a vinyl cutter to get cut. I'll email you the pdf of it incase you want to get more done.

Another Revival to the project thread...
Really makes me realize how little I've done to the bike in a while.

Anyway, I have always hated that my aftermarket 4-1 was so close to the oil filter cover... and a recent fight between the header and a curb (with a passenger on the back) forced me to take "drastic" measures... Plus I had an extra oil filter cover around.

Took the oil filter cover in to school and threw it on to the lathe (I'm allowed in there now), and this is what I came up with:

OilFilterCover1.jpg

Damn... that's dirty...

Other than that, Whattya think?

Before you ask... Yes, I removed the cooling fins, and No, I'm not worried about overheating. My bike has an additional oil cooler (and a temp warning light) AND I live in Newfoundland. ;)
