$1000 flat. According to the owner:

"1978 Suzuki GS550 4-cylinder, 6-speed, kick- and electric-starting, side and center stand, all original, 22K miles. Just had major tune-up: Valves, carbs synched, new plugs, new battery Amsoil MC Oil and filter,
this is a great starter bike, does everything well. everything works and it's reliable. Firm on the price. Registration and insurance are paid up so I'm in no hurry to sell it, but it's a great little bike and deserves a good home. Thanks."

This would be my first bike. The price seems too good to be true...Are there any quirks about this model I should know about before going to check it out?

Those are great bikes. Only weakness is the spongie front end. Replacing the springs with Progressives helps a lot. Also doing the steering stem bearings with All Balls or any good tapered bearing helps. I love the whine of that motor.

That engine is solid. As djelliott said the front ends are a little soft and the progressive springs make a world of a difference, if you don't change them I would suggest pulling the front forks and changing the oil in them if it has not been done since the oil would be really old.

The bars are uncomfortable on longer rides would suggest switching them out.

Check all the grounds on the bike as a bad ground will destroy the stator, happened on mine.

Other than that check out thegsresources.com they are zook guru's, not that the gents here are not capable just a few more suzuki enthusiasts there. Emphasis on enthusiasts, possibly fanatics.
