I have an opportunity to buy a 74 CB 750 for $300. It is complete and turns over but is a real snotter. The guy doesn't want to go through the electrical and he doesn't have the title (which the DMV says won't be a problem). What do you guys think?

if dmv says its easy to get the title, Id say offer him 200 since youll have to go through the trouble of getting the title and settle for 250.

+1-as long as you keep the seat! ;)

Hell yes, that seat is beautiful like a bearded woman! ::)

but I'd go for it. That's a good deal on a 750.

Hey Celly, I'm in Kato too...if you don't buy it, let me know I think I'd be interested. If you do, and need some help with the electrics, let me know, I just re-wired my buddies '76 550f... his had the same ape hangers and seat too!

I just brought a '71 CL350 back to life after it'd been sitting neglected for several years. I plan to cafe it out over the winter. My buddy's cb550 is in my garage as well..it had been sitting in a shed for god only knows how long, just got it running and almost kinda sorta rideable this week! I've also got a '66 Ducati Monza Jr I'm hoping to restore this winter (although I said that last winter as well!) I love the tank on the one you're looking at, that is killer! When I rewired the 550, I put in a Ford solid-state regulator and a Radio Shack rectifier thanks to info I found on here. We also put a sealed battery, and placed it all in a tray under the seat. It looks pretty awesome even if it is half-assed for the time being!

Thats cool, I currently have a good running 73 cb500 I picked up in lower North for 200 bucks. I am planning a total tear down this winter, possibly on two bikes now.....My wife is going to KILL me!!!

Buy it, buy it, buy it! ;D

For $300 I've seen some bad stuff, but that doesn't look too bad for the money. Ditch the excess, replace what you want and clean it up nice and well. Even if you spend up big on parts you'll probably be trying hard to top 1.5-2k for the build.

Hope it goes well - boingk

So I told my wife that I was going to buy this bike and she went absolutely ballistic. I haven't talked to her all day so i don't know where it stands right now. WTF, why did I get married!!????

Don't tell the wife - lesson #1. I bought a bike 3 days ago and she doesn't have a clue. Of the 5 bikes I own, she knows about 3 ;)
