single carb setup on cb750k

Anyone have any experience with running a single carb? Mine needs a rebuild and came across this, figure a single would simply things opposed to 4. From what I can tell people are saying cylinder 1 and 4 could possibly run lean.

I'll preface this by saying I'm by no means a carb expert.

I think the intake length (end of carb to beginning of cylinder) would need to be roughly the same to expect the same amount of fuel to reach each cylinder given all of the tubing is the same diameter.

I like the idea of a simpler setup, but is this a performance reducer? On twins, the 2 carb setup was always a higher performer than the single.....

I would assume a faily large power loss.
The four carb set up is not that hard to tune properly.

That set up is a copy of stuff that has been on the market since the early 70s.
Not new tech at all. Just now uses those mikunis that everyone and thier mother wants to slap on bikes.

CB750 carbs are cake. Yes, tuning is a bitch, but is it really worth grenading an engine just because you wanted to save a few minutes at the tail end of your full rebuild and not do it right?

I figure if you can't tune the stock set up with the world of information out there then you are ill prepared to tune a "custom" set up well.

I love those posts complaining about the CV carbs. They are buying the Mikuni's to end their problems. Then the next set of posts is "How do I set up a Mikuni"...

Plus the whole bigger is better mentality. I am putting VM32's on my CB350....The 28's are plenty big enough. Nothing harder to tune then a small engine with an oversized carb.
