These carbs are off a bike w/26K miles, might make a killer setup for someone w/a hot 350-550Four motor? Haven't torn 'em down(too many projects) but manual choke works smoothly on all 4 carbs, barrels, slides do not appear to be gunky, bike has been garaged by PO's disgruntled girlfriend(hey, at least she kept it in the garage, right?) . These are much easier to tune than Keihins and will run like stink. My email: torrencebirdsong@yahoo.com, or call me, Tory @ 512-535-8685, thanks Have slideshow of carbs, shoot me an email

I thougth the 26's were the lil bro to the 29's? No matter..good mechanical carbs, and for sure easier to fiddle with than Keihins. And they arent CVs which makes em even better..lol

Hey TonUp, you may be right, they might be 26's, I looked 'em up the other night on the Kwak forum manual and I've slept since then. Now, I'm gonna check again. Thanks for the heads up! Tory

quote Damn, I'm gonna have to pull these pups off and mike 'em, the last "official Mikuni carb" site said that that bike came with the 29mm smooth bores! WTF? That'd be nice, but I'm a little disbelieving. These have three phillips heads screws on top like the later Z1 carbs, but they have horizontal casting lines going up the carb body; and I can't find any markings anywhere? Everything points to these being 29's. Maybe PO changed them and that's why the bike didn't move again? That'd be a stroke of luck. Anybody knows, mail me. I'll try and get pics up tonight or tomorrow. Thanks, Tory

TonUp-yup, you're right, measured inside intake side bores at CL with inside calipers and they are 26's. Nice

Great carbs...ive got a set myself on my GS750. If no one snatches them up any time soon i might be interested in them..never hurts to have an extra set of good carbs around. I've still yet to take those pics of that stuff for ya..ill try to get to it tonight.

That's cool, I'm running behind myself, no worries, Tory

Here's some pics of the front wheel, forks and the calipers and rotors..the forks are tapered bearing...

They're a lil dirty, and the rotors have a touch of surface rust from sitting, but they are in pretty good shape..rear is in just as good as shape as front.

Re: Complete set Mikuni 26's off '79 KZ650, 'lil bro to Mikuni 29's,make offer

Hey TonUp, that is a pretty sweet setup, for sure, but I'm actually in the process(tomorrow) of seeing how difficult it will be to adapt the triples, tapered bearings and forks off an '87 Kaw ZX750F I've got with much better(than the F2) anti-dive qualities, bigger stanchin diameters and better brake setup. If it's gonna be re-inventing the wheel, I'll give you a shout. Just trying to make due w/what's on hand, ya know? Thanks, man, Tory

Re: Complete set Mikuni 26's off '79 KZ650, 'lil bro to Mikuni 29's,make offer

No prob bro...im still debating on keeping em myself and converting to the dual disc...every couple of weeks of it sitting down there i change my mind. My biggest concern about it is will the rotors match up bolt wise, and will my spoke rims, which have a plastic hub cap on the non rotor side have the mounting holes for the two rotor set up..

Re: Complete set Mikuni 26's off '79 KZ650, 'lil bro to Mikuni 29's,make offer

BTW do those forks you;re considering switching over to have the anti-dive system on em?? If so..ditch it...Zooks had that system later on too, and it sucks...added weight and really does little to prevent dive. Plus they get gummed up and nasty quickly if you are proactive on changing your fork oil and whatnot. The swap should be cake however, provided you have new races for your tapered bearings, as the old plain bearings races wont work...thats another reason i had not changed my set up over, simply i dont want to pay for the new bearings...lol im cheap. Lemme know how it works out for ya...im interested to see.

Re: Complete set Mikuni 26's off '79 KZ650, 'lil bro to Mikuni 29's,make offer

Yeah, I'm with you on the "anti-dive-electronic(no less!)system" , thought those were bullshit myself; they'll be tossed, I was actually talking about the stock F2's antique fork setup's tendency to dive under braking, where these should be a vast improvement and brakes should be better, hard to believe that that 1st gen Ninja was heavier than an F2! You've been an interesting cat to talk ,too, I'll definitely keep you posted as I have several pretty trick deals I plan with this bike, the next being a box alloy swingarm off a 500 Interceptor; measurements tell me it should work and will give me a little more variability in wheelbase, which in turn, means I can play with the height of my fork tubes to add/lessen trail, so I should be able to make it go through corners however I li8ke. Which, being an old flat tracker, is generally SIDEWAYS-LOL!!! Later, TonUp, enjoy your weekend, it's my birthday so I'm gonna work on my bike and then start hitting the good stuff. Lter, Tory PS:Got any ideas for me as to how to install the 26 SB's on my 750 mill w/o buying $150 adapter intakes? Meanwhile, I was still thinkin'........

Re: Complete set Mikuni 26's off '79 KZ650, 'lil bro to Mikuni 29's,make offer

Got any pix of the carbs? Stock carbs for a '79 kz650 were VM24SS. If there are 3 ribs on the bodies, they're 24s.

Re: Complete set Mikuni 26's off '79 KZ650, 'lil bro to Mikuni 29's,make offer

These do have ribs, but the Mikuni website I looked at said 26'ss, and I measured I.D. on inlet side and they were 26.Plus, it was painfully obvious to me after looking at the botched job PO did, that these were NOT the stock carbs; probably why he got disgusted and abandoned it. I'll post pictures tomorrow, let me know what you think, thanks, Tory

Hey, my PDF slideshow was too big to put on post, so here's the link with plenty of full page hi-res photos: http://adobe.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=12ecc91i.s4fhz9q&x=0&y=sunt8t, thanks, Tory

They could be 26's. I have 24's and they look different than mine.

Thanks Herr Deacon, I feel certain they are simply because They measured with a caliper to be 26mms. Thanks, man

Yo Tory...those actually might be smoothbores man...I HAVE 26's and they are purely mechanical..those look to have an accelerator pump on the bottom...if i were you i wouldnt sell those at all! If those are smoothbores..they are FUCKING SWEET carbs. Race junkies LOVE those things.
