Some kid from Norway

Howzit Guys!

I have been a regular lurker on this site, there is some awesome inspiration to be got here!
Thought I might contribute some since I have started this little project to enjoy next summer.

Backpacking through Germany this year, I stumbled upon this 83' GPZ 1100 in rideable condition (with saddlebags, no less!).
Ended up riding around Europe for a good month, lapping her together a few times underway, good times.

Now shes home in Norway and it seems I have some work to do. I will open up a project thread as I appreciate all the input I can get :)

Good to be here ;)

I have started stripping her down already, going for that barebones cafe look but retaining some of the original GPZ lines.
I'll be fabbing up a fibreglass tank soon, and soldering together a sleek little led taillight. There are a few riding days left this season so I won't go ripping the bike to bits just yet - but I'm planning to mod the rear frame ever so slightly and of course powder-coat all the bits as soon as possible. This machine is injected, so I'll have some big fun reconfiguring the system to my own devices and I reckon it'll look pretty cool and rattle some window panes when its finally finished.

I'm still undecided as to what should be done about the front fairing. I absolutely despise that headlight. I might just cut it down a bit to see how it looks before giving it the chuck.

If a mod sees this, can you possibly relocate the thread to 'Big Arse Projects'. I'll get into the dirty tomorrow. ;D

Cheers

Ya man, welcome to the madness. That fairing / headlight looks to be in pretty decent shape - you could probably sell the whole thing for some good $.

Bike's originally an American import, and the fairing is apparently made by a company called Moto Italia. My mate reckons it's some kind of Harley after-market setup, but I can't find anything on the inter-webs. The perspex bubble screen is cracked from when I dropped her in a Bavarian river crossing. I would need to learn how to vacuum mold if I wanted her to look unlike some kind of RatRod, doubt they manufacture them anymore.
